Often, these are students who have already decided that math is \"not fun\" or that they're \"bad\" at math or that it's \"too hard.\" None of these assessments are correct and it is my job to help them learn not only math, but that they are capable of learning ANYTHING! One of the best ways to engage students with concepts that are challenging is through a game. I was so grateful to have this project funded, as I could help the students where they needed the most practice and do it in a way that was fun and engaging! \r\n\r\nRight away, the students took to the games and puzzles and didn't stop to question whether they could do it or whether it was too hard! These games are requested often and are a great way for us to practice our basic facts and challenge ourselves with some thinking skills. \r\n\r\nAgain, I truly can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1766491317739,"projectUrl":"project/make-math-magical/9664593/","projectTitle":"Make Math Magical!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carlson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9423808_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704206129044","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9423808"},{"teacherId":9423808,"projectId":9219327,"letterContent":"Watching the students' excitement and enthusiasm when I unwrapped our brand new Microbots was amazing! A few students had previous experience using them at a Summer program and they shared their excitement with the others. \r\n\r\nAt the fourth grade level, coding can sometimes seem like a daunting task. Being able to \"see\" the effects of their coding by having a tangible item to play with made their introduction to programming so much better. All of the students were successful in coding the entry level projects like creating a name tag. We also had students go on to create a tug-o-war game, a compass and even a \"flappy-bird\" style game. Every students was able to access the project, gain some real-world insight on coding and robotics. Overall, this hands-on coding experience greatly enhanced their unit on Artificial Intelligence. \r\n\r\nI can't express how grateful I am to have a tool that I will continue to use with my students for years to come.
