When I came back to my classroom in September, the items you funded started arriving. It was overwhelming to me that someone could care so much for a teacher and students that they have never met!\r\nMy students are so blessed by your support and are enjoying snacks and fidgets daily. I cannot thank you enough for helping me fund these items. I am a teacher that has a lot of current and former students swing by to say hi, check in, get some advice, grab a piece of candy, ask for snack, and sometimes even get some academic help! I really feel that the connections I have made with the LHS student population are the greatest accomplishment in my career thus far. The content knowledge that I have taught is important, but making students feel cared about and have a soft spot to land are equally as important to me. \r\nI hope to one day meet you both in person so I can thank you again.\r\nThank you for being a blessing in my life,\r\nMary Clyde\r\nProud LHS Math Teacher","fullyFundedDate":1750876699714,"projectUrl":"project/geometry-supplies-snacks-and-fidgets/9267598/","projectTitle":"Geometry Supplies, Snacks, and Fidgets!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clyde","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9885897"},{"teacherId":9819238,"projectId":8982237,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the generous donation to my project, \"Social-Emotional Learning through Meditative Art Making\". With your help, I was able to provide paint and dotting tools to guide students through a calming, meditative art project of making Mandalas on recycled CDs. In today's stressful world, \r\n\r\nStudents learned about the history of mandalas and watched a video of Buddhist monks creating a sand mandala from start to finish, discussing the symbolism of creating and wiping it away at the end. Then, we worked on guided breathing and meditative exercises to get in the correct mindset. Next, we practiced using the dotting tools to make a variety of styles of marks, and then students began their designs on their cds. \r\n\r\nThe students were so engaged in this project and did a great job overall! Several students remarked that they enjoyed the process and found the lesson relaxing. Thanks to you and your generosity, I am planning on repeating this project. This lesson fits into our goals as a district for Social Emotional Learning, and I am excited to try it with even more students next year.","fullyFundedDate":1735669452111,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-learning-through-medita/8982237/","projectTitle":"Social-Emotional Learning through Meditative Art Making!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bolents","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9819238"},{"teacherId":9823311,"projectId":8914502,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom with some supplies. The day I hung the posters, so many kids complimented them and I heard kids quoting the positive messages to each other while working at the boards together. The mini white boards and erasers have been very helpful when we do classwork through our delta math assignments on the computers. Study hall students have also found them useful when doing online assignments. I love the fact that they can flip it over and use a graph as needed as well. My geometry classes will be beginning our volume and surface area units in a few weeks, and I can't wait to use the 2D and 3D geometric solids to help further their understanding of the subject.","fullyFundedDate":1735669452081,"projectUrl":"project/9th-grade-math-classroom/8914502/","projectTitle":"9th Grade Math Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Greiner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9823311"},{"teacherId":9827804,"projectId":8922923,"letterContent":"Once again I want to say thank you for the generous donation to my classroom. The math signs have greatly helped my students have a visual understanding of some of the geometric concepts that I teach. I often have them look around the room to try and find the formula or word I am talking about and point it out on the wall. Then during a test or quiz you can see them using it as a reference. Hopefully after doing this a couple times they will start to commit it to memory. \r\n\r\nThe students also love all their worksheets on color paper and say that it \"is just better\" than regular white paper. They always want to see what color their next packet is and the class with the higher test average for the unit before gets to pick the next color. Doesn't seem like a big deal to most of us but they have a lot of fun with it and see it as a reward.\r\n\r\nLastly, the snacks that were donated to me have been the best item of all. I run a math lab (math study hall for kids that need math help). Typically these kids are lower socioeconomic and are hungry a lot! Knowing that they can get a snack with me to help hold them over until lunch has been a weight off their shoulder. They truly are appreciative of it.","fullyFundedDate":1733341854709,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-awareness-classroom/8922923/","projectTitle":"Mental Health Awareness Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mazurkiewicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9827804"},{"teacherId":191070,"projectId":8900596,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations. These materials allowed us to create a more comfortable space in our classroom, where students are able to feel more relaxed and at ease. The students have access to the fidgets whenever they feel they need them. The variety of fidgets allows for choice to meet their needs.\r\n\r\nWe have the fidgets in fishbowls around the room. The students feel comfortable going up and grabbing whatever they need. Most students will use them freely throughout the class periods. However, we have smaller fidgets that can be used more discreetly, if needed. \r\n\r\nWe are using the alternative seating in our classroom, as well. This also allows students the freedom to choose what type of seat they sit in. We have wobble stools for students who have trouble sitting still. We have stacking stools that they can use to work with partners. The balance discs are also used to allow them the freedom to move, while seated at their desks. The students love using all of the materials. They have talked to other students (that we don't have in class). We have many students asking for these materials and we are glad to share. The materials you have donated have really made a difference for my students. The visual aides such as the cell 3D model and human body interactive chart have really help my students better understand what is being taught. All students in my class receive special education services so the visual aides are essential for their learning styles. We have not gotten to use some of our other visual aides such as the DNA kits since we have not made it to that unit yet, but I will be utilizing the kits so that each group of students can have hands on lab experience.\r\nThe Gumball machine has served as positive reinforcement for my students. They are able to use it when they have had a good day in class or earn a good test grade. The chargers have also been great as many of my students do not have their own, and now they have them available to them when are using their Chromebooks in class, and don't have to stress about not having one.\r\nAll of these donations have help make my classroom a more relaxed and enjoyable environment for both students and teachers. Often in class, I will ask for Chromebooks out and there are always a couple students right away who say \"I don't have a charger\". Before, it would have been a search for a charger or I would have to print the assignment which wasn't always effective considering how the assignment was made. Now they can go to the crate and grab one and we move on with the day. \r\nHaving extra supplies is always useful when certain markers or colored pencils die, but the other thing students have appreciated is the snacks.
