Students can use them for independent reading, small-group activities, quiet work, or simply when they need a different space to regroup and refocus. I have seen students become more comfortable in the classroom and more willing to engage when they feel that the space accommodates them. These chairs have become the normal seating for my seniors as they rush to class in order to claim a chair. My Drama Club students also love these chairs and spend hours on them after school either hanging out or preparing for auditions. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped me provide more than supplies. Something as simple as having a snack- or even two0 made a real difference for students who were trying to get through a long day. It helped them settle in, focus, and feel cared for. Some would even stop by between periods for a quick pick me up. \r\nThe books and materials allowed us to do the kind of learning that can be difficult without the right resources, especially for students with disabilities. Students highlighted wrote in the margins, and worked together to break long passages into smaller, manageable chunks. over time they became more willing to take on challenging text instead of immediately feeling overwhelmed. Because of this, 50% of my 11th graders went on to pass the New York State English Regents Exam, and I am so proud of the persistence they showed. \r\nOur reading also opened space for honest conversations about family, responsibility, and choices we make. Many of my Senior female students especially connected with Berneice from \"The Piano Lesson\". They admired that she was strong, independent, and did not need a man to define who she was. Seeing students recognize these qualities in a character- and reflect on what they meant in their own lives- was incredibly meaningful. \r\nThank you for helping create a classroom where students had what they needed to learn, grow, and feel seen.
