We have a beanbag next to it and the students like to gather on the carpet while I sit in the beanbag and read to them. Students who need a break to regulate themselves will either sit or lie on the carpet to settle themselves and then rejoin the group. It is known as a safe space where you can sit or lie down to calm and then return to the group regulated. This has worked very well for the students as they can sit on the carpet and it is a no work zone and no talking zone where they can calm.
