My students are so excited to start our big ukulele unit after Christmas! A few classes have used them a few times already as a 'teaser' for the unit. When I showed them to the 2nd graders and told them they would be able to learn to play ukulele this year, they actually started jumping and cheering! They thought ukuleles were only for the older kids. A few of my students have even told me they were asking for a ukulele for Christmas so they can practice at home. One of my autistic kids is absolutely fascinated by the ukulele and sat holding it very gently. Suddenly, he shouted, \"you mean we are going to play it??? Can I play it???\" I have never seen him so animated! \r\n When the ukuleles first arrived, several students helped with the unboxing. I taught my older kids how to gently stretch the strings so they would stay in tune more quickly. A group of 5th and 6th graders are very proud to be in charge of tuning the ukuleles. The ukuleles you donated have a beautiful sound and look amazing!
