This is my first time submitting a project for funding. In the past, I never felt I had anything that truly would justify a request (grateful for my district). Then I realized after starting our second year using our \"Food for Thought\" incentive system, the demand has increased! Now I have more students motivated to participate consistently and that means more snacks to purchase. \r\n\r\nMy students were eager to help me bring in the snacks from my vehicle. They also helped sort and split up between our two resource rooms participating in the Check book incentive program. Even weeks later they were still in awe of the quantity and variety of snacks available in the cabinet. This variety of snacks allowed us to use some items as part of a \"free stash\". This stash includes mainly the \"healthier\" choices allowing the more popular snacks as the kind that they work towards.\r\n\r\nThis project will continue to be a permanent fixture in my classroom in the coming years. It will promote good practice with updating and balancing their check register. Along with motivate those who are not successful at saving any money, (spending as soon as they earn) to see the benefit of saving for more value. This past week one of my students who is an incredibly diligent worker chose to use his funds to treat himself to lunch from Popeyes (elite purchase available). To see this student light up with excitement as I approached with his special delivery was the best gift for me.
