Recently, we practiced cutting kiwis, and each student had their own apron, knife, and cutting board. Having individual materials available for every student has significantly reduced wait times and allowed everyone to stay actively engaged throughout the lesson. The students were excited to use their own cooking tools and demonstrated increased independence and confidence during the activity.\r\n\r\nThe new supplies have sparked a great deal of interest in cooking experiences. After each lesson, students consistently ask what our next cooking project will be, showing their enthusiasm and eagerness to participate. These hands-on activities provide valuable opportunities to practice following directions, building fine motor skills, and developing independence in a fun and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nOur next project will be making individual cakes for Father's Day, which will allow students to use the measuring cups and mixing bowls purchased through your contribution. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and support. Your donation has enhanced our program and created engaging learning experiences that our students truly enjoy. Thank you so much for making these opportunities possible.","fullyFundedDate":1773501133440,"projectUrl":"project/simple-cooking-big-life-skills/10117982/","projectTitle":"Simple Cooking, Big Life Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10441037"},{"teacherId":6837063,"projectId":9992882,"letterContent":"First I want to say thank you so much for the quick timeframe in fulfilling the donation request. The portable tables were easy to assemble and made it a teaching opportunity by having the students assist in putting them together. The tables are not bulky and can be moved easily around the room. \r\nThe students have been able to use the portable takes for a presentation about Women's History Month. They use the table to place their laptops while they were presenting giving them access to their assignment. Students indicated they felt comfortable having something in front of them. They were observed looking forward at their peers more consistently as before they often gave their backs while reading from the Smartboard. Also, the portable tables were used for a debate presentation about \"Should School Be Canceled for Bad Weather? or should everyone switch to remote learning?\" Usually, students debate from their seats but the portable tables allowed us to stage a realistic debate setting. Lastly, two students that often stand up and fidget in their seats find the portable table helpful because it allows them to work standing up. They feel less restricted and since the tables are portable can move around with ease.","fullyFundedDate":1768244866029,"projectUrl":"project/presentation-podium/9992882/","projectTitle":"Presentation Podium","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Murillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6837063"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2129","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":54.1,"schoolId":2129,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS138 @ J117 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS138 @ J117 ","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/district-75-city-wide-programs/ps138-j117-the-burke-school/2129"}
