Jewish representation in public school is profoundly limited. This is especially shocking and concerning, given the dramatic increase in antisemitism in recent years. \r\n\r\nYour understanding of this crucial and urgent need showed that someone cared. Your contribution has helped begin to correct a meaningful and long-standing gap. This is an issue that must change. Your kindness and concern showed that change was possible.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students now have access to stories, characters, and cultural touchstones that reflect Jewish identity in a positive, age-appropriate, and inclusive way. These new materials allow all children—not only Jewish students—to learn about a community that is often overlooked, and to do so with joy and understanding. The book on Ben Shahn's art for justice has inspired our students to see how Jewish creativity and moral courage contribute to \"tikkun olam\"—repairing the world. The book highlighting influential Jewish women opened our students' eyes to how many Jewish women played pivotal roles in shaping the movements and moral values that we cherish today. The Mitzvah Memory game is giving students a fun and meaningful way to strengthen their visual–motor and memory skills. The symbols and friendly characters open the door to curiosity, recognition, and appreciation of a culture that may be new to them—helping build understanding and respect through play.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a real difference. You haven't just funded books and games—you've helped create visibility, belonging, and a richer, more accurate educational environment for every child who walks through our door. And most importantly, you are creating a buffer and prevention for an insidious prejudice that is so hurtful to the most vulnerable in society. You are building the kindness and love that our world, and especially schools, so desperately need.\r\n\r\nThank you again for choosing to support representation, inclusion, and learning, for Jewish people and for everyone. We are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1752552058688,"projectUrl":"project/representing-everyone-we-are-all-human/9396312/","projectTitle":"Representing Everyone; We Are All Human","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Handler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2490093_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1449357887660","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/goldy-handler"},{"teacherId":2490093,"projectId":9399611,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kindness and generously providing printer ink for OT! It is already making a big difference in the occupational therapy services I am able to provide to our students.\r\n\r\nWith this ink, we are able to:\r\n\r\n1) Print individualized worksheets and activity sheets tailored to each student's needs. Students get to choose their favorite characters to color, cut, count, write and do all kinds of activities about!\r\n\r\n2) Create visual supports to remind students of their school routines. The visuals help them follow along with multi-step directions, personal space, and completion of independent work.\r\n\r\n3) Track progress and celebrate successes. Students get to take home their fine-motor and writing work in real time, while we also color-copy it for their file. This allows them to proudly show their work to their friends and family, while preserving a work sample to reflect on, track progress and share at IEP Meetings!\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, we can provide high-quality, personalized materials consistently, which helps students stay engaged, motivated, and successful in their therapy. It allows us to share progress and communication with the students' family and team. The student have been focusing well on completing their assessments, and are enthusiastic to copy all the shapes accurately.\r\n\r\nWith this assessment tool, we are able to accurately assess visual-motor skills, which are critical for handwriting, drawing, completing worksheets, copying from near and far point, utilizing classroom tools like scissors and rulers, and participating in all classroom table-top activities such as math challenges and group games. Identifying each student's unique strengths and areas for growth, allows me to create individualized interventions that address their essential school participation needs. It also allows us to track students' progress over time, so we can celebrate each improvement and adjust therapy strategies effectively.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, students are now more confident in tasks that once challenged them. We can now provide therapy that is at once a match to students' needs, and also measurable and impactful! The Beery-Buktenica assessment is helping ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential.
