Instead of reading about different rocks and minerals and how to differentiate between the two, they were actually able to hold different rocks and minerals in their hands. My students are hands on learners and they are able to really grasp the new content and material easier this way than reading a textbook.\r\n\r\nAs our year progresses and we are able to use more materials, like the real life model of the different cores of Earth, we will be able to use these materials to help assist with project based learning. My students do not do well on common exams and tests to show their learning, but they do well with showing their knowledge in a project style.\r\n\r\nMy students could not believe someone was so generous as to donate so many different things to our classroom to help mold their minds.
