During Homecoming Week, we always try to emphasize school spirit and encourage students to continue participating in sports and activities throughout their school careers. On the last day of Homecoming Week, we invite our seniors to come down and shake hands with the elementary students while encouraging them to have a great day. We used the paw-print stickers to hand out to the students, and they were SO excited to receive them! The stickers ended up on faces, hands, clothes, and even personal belongings that students wanted to keep them on for the rest of the year. They were taking pictures with their stickers and were just so excited to show them off!\r\n\r\nThe welcome-back bracelets will have to wait until next year, as they arrived a little too late for us to use them this year, but we are already excited to have them ready to go! The motivational pencils will begin being handed out on October 1st, as we kick off Bullying Prevention and Kindness Month. The pencils have encouraging sayings on them, and teachers will give them to students who are showing kindness, being good friends, and setting positive examples for others. We are so excited to have the opportunity to share these meaningful little gifts with our students, all thanks to your generosity.\r\n\r\nOur school is small, but we do everything we can to show our students and community just how big of an impact a little kindness and school spirit can make. Our new VR headset has transformed the way my third graders engage with history and geography. Rather than only reading about important events and places in books or watching videos on a screen, students can now immerse themselves in these experiences and feel as though they are truly there.\r\n\r\nThis technology has been especially powerful during our history units. As we studied topics like the Titanic, World War II, and September 11th, virtual reality helped students better understand scale, setting, and perspective in ways traditional instruction cannot. For example, students were amazed while exploring Titanic-related experiences and historical locations through VR. They repeatedly commented on how much bigger and more real everything felt compared to pictures or videos. This kind of immersive learning helps deepen comprehension, spark curiosity, and build meaningful connections to the content.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the feeling of \"being inside\" the lesson. The moment they put on the headset, their engagement skyrockets. Even students who are typically quiet or hesitant to participate become eager to share observations, ask questions, and discuss what they noticed. Visiting the Beaches of Normandy brought their learning to real life. They could see the large scale beaches and the hedgerows mentioned repeatedly in our I Survived book.\r\n\r\nI have also seen a particularly meaningful impact on some of my quieter learners and students who sometimes struggle with traditional classroom tasks. The VR experiences give them another way to access learning. Students who may not always shine during reading or lecture-based instruction have become highly engaged, observant, and excited to contribute to discussions after using the headset.\r\n\r\nYour support has done far more than provide classroom technology. You have helped open the world to students in a rural Title I community, many of whom may never have the opportunity to visit these important places in person. Items such as deodorant and room spray help students feel comfortable and confident throughout the school day, reducing distractions and allowing them to focus on learning. Meeting these basic needs plays a critical role in helping students feel safe, respected, and ready to engage in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour support also provided sensory lighting that has transformed the classroom environment into a calm, welcoming space. This has been especially beneficial for students with sensory sensitivities, as it promotes self-regulation, reduces anxiety, and improves focus. A classroom that feels safe and soothing allows students to take academic risks, participate more fully, and build confidence in their abilities. The kids are obsessed with the fish light and its' sounds that they \"yell\" at me when I forget to turn it on. It is a major talking piece for the kids that visit from years in the past who say \"You did not have that when we were here\"! \r\n\r\nAdditionally, the board games and books made possible by your donation enrich daily learning experiences and strengthen classroom community. Board games encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions, while books inspire curiosity and a love of reading. Kids chose them over iPads, which is fantastic from a tech-age group of kids. Together, these materials have created a more inclusive, engaging learning environment, and your generosity has made a lasting difference in the lives of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1764739476081,"projectUrl":"project/help-4th-graders-have-a-great-year/9598863/","projectTitle":"Help 4th Graders Have a Great Year!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bentley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10178655_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758125486717","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10178655"},{"teacherId":10178655,"projectId":9599090,"letterContent":"Legos have been such an amazing addition to my classroom because they support hands-on, student-centered learning.
