Students now have flexible choices for where they sit while working independently or collaborating with peers. One of my favorite moments was during our reading block—students spread out to their chosen spots, fully engaged in their books, and the room felt calm, focused, and purposeful. The seating has truly helped students settle their bodies so they can focus their minds.\r\n\r\nThey were SO excited! There were lots of smiles, gasps, and \"Can I sit there?!\" moments. Many students immediately commented on how comfortable the seating was and how it made the classroom feel more welcoming. Several students who typically struggle to stay focused were eager to try the new seating and were noticeably more engaged right away.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working through reading and writing units, students will keep using these seating options during independent practice, small-group instruction, and reflection time. Our next focus is building reading stamina and comprehension, and having a comfortable, supportive learning environment allows students to stay engaged for longer periods of time. These resources will continue to support both academic growth and students' ability to self-regulate and take ownership of their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1764738120796,"projectUrl":"project/a-place-to-sit-learn-and-grow/9682571/","projectTitle":"A Place to Sit, Learn, and Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bainbridge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9565039_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745444946740","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9565039"},{"teacherId":10008383,"projectId":9779925,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom. These materials helped students take pride in their work and gave them the tools to collaborate, plan, and present their learning with confidence. They were also a wonderful option during leisure time, encouraging creativity and positive classroom routines.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting experiences made possible by your donation was the tie-dye kits. Using these kits, students created Percy Jackson–themed \"camp\" shirts to connect with our reading, bringing literature to life in a fun, hands-on way. As soon as the stuffing and thread arrived, students dove straight into designing and sewing their own stuffed animals. Watching them problem‑solve, stitch carefully, and bring their creations to life has been such a proud teacher moment. The ironing board has also become a huge fan favorite—it's currently in constant use as students work together on a classroom quilt project, learning patience, precision, and teamwork along the way. \r\n\r\nSome of the most memorable moments have come from our food‑based lessons. The graters were put to immediate use for our farm‑to‑table cabbage project, where students shredded mountains of cabbage to prepare a fresh cabbage salad for the entire school. They were so excited to contribute something meaningful to the community. The toasters helped power a breakfast lab where every student planned and prepared a healthy, balanced breakfast while managing their time and responsibilities. It was incredible to see them take ownership of the process from start to finish.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were buzzing with ideas and couldn't wait to get started. Their enthusiasm has only grown as they've realized how many new skills they can practice with these tools. Next, we'll be expanding our sewing projects and continuing our cooking labs, giving students more opportunities to create, collaborate, and build confidence in real‑world tasks.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the chance to learn through doing. A nutritious snack helps students stay alert, engaged, and physically prepared for the demands of singing, dancing, and acting. It also supports students who may not have time or resources to eat between school and rehearsal, ensuring everyone can participate fully and comfortably. Beyond the practical benefits, snacks create a sense of care and community—students feel supported, valued, and encouraged, which boosts morale and helps foster a positive, collaborative rehearsal environment.\r\n\r\nOur rehearsals start with snacks, and I often send a snack (or two) with students as they move on to sports practices or games following our rehearsals. This cutting-edge tool has truly transformed our classroom into a vibrant arena of scientific exploration and discovery.\r\nSince receiving the microscope, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement and curiosity. One specific project that highlights its use is our \"Plant and Animal Cells.\" The large LCD screen has allowed students to see the intricate details of microorganisms and plant cells, which were previously only seen in textbooks. The ability to capture images and record video has enabled us to create a digital portfolio of our discoveries, fostering a sense of pride and ownership in their work.\r\nThe moment the microscope was unveiled in our classroom was truly magical. The students' eyes lit up with wonder and amazement, and they could hardly contain their excitement. They eagerly gathered around the microscope, each taking turns to view the microscopic world come to life on the screen. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it was heartwarming to witness their awe and fascination.\r\nBuilding on the momentum and excitement, our next project will focus on the \"Cellular Structures and Functions.\" Students will delve deeper into understanding the different parts of plant and animal cells. With the microscope, they will be able to observe cell membranes, nuclei, and other organelles, gaining a hands-on understanding of cellular biology.\r\nYour contribution has given our students a glimpse into the wonders of science and has ignited a passion for learning that will undoubtedly extend beyond the classroom.
