There’s no better way to learn to explore than in a comfortable space with a relaxing atmosphere like a classroom with the comforts of home! I must break down the barriers in order to create a space my students feel is safe, relaxing, and easy to take chances in. For too many of our students they live in broken family homes, without the proper medical care they need, money is spread too thin, and in situations that have caused trauma for one reason or another. By creating a warm and cozy atmosphere with bean bag chairs, oversized pillows, and a throw rug they know that I care about making them feel safe and comfortable which in return gives them the power to be successful in reading! My students will know that I’m putting their needs first and going out of my way to create a “home” for them all at school filled with trust and love.
