One of our favorite STEM projects was learning about germs. Using a blue light and special powder to represent germs, students could see how quickly germs spread and think about ways to stay healthy.\r\n\r\nWe also had a blast with marble runs, working in groups to design mazes and test how marbles traveled through them. This gave students the chance to problem-solve, experiment, and see the results of their ideas in action.\r\n\r\nThe microscope has opened up a whole new world for my students. We looked at dandelions, animal hair, insect wings, shrimp, scales, and more. Students conducted their own investigations, drew detailed observations, and were amazed at what they could see up close.\r\n\r\nWe even used propagation tubes to watch plants grow, documenting each stage in their composition books with drawings and notes. Being able to see stems and roots develop in real time made science come alive in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw all the materials. They couldn't wait to dive in and start exploring. Every day, their curiosity grows, and they're already asking questions about what we'll investigate next. Because of your support, my students can discover, experiment, and learn in ways that wouldn't be possible without these hands-on resources. We are very grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1765129809849,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-stem-fridays-for-our-classroom/9875214/","projectTitle":"Hands-On STEM Fridays for Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9868054_orig.jpg?crop=1047,1047,x1240,y1216&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774071135111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melmartinez"},{"teacherId":9868054,"projectId":9813213,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, my second graders got to experience the butterfly life cycle in a way they'll never forget. They watched caterpillars turn into chrysalides and then into butterflies, and they recorded their observations and drew what they saw in their journals. Seeing the life cycle happen right in front of them made science come alive in our classroom.\r\n\r\nEvery day, my students were so excited to come in and check on the butterflies. They couldn't wait to draw, write, and talk about what was happening next. Their curiosity grew with every stage, and many of them even asked if we could explore the life cycles of other creatures.\r\n\r\nThis experience wouldn't have been possible without donors like you. In our second-grade classroom, where resources are limited and class sizes are large, opportunities like this are rare. Your support gave my students a hands-on, engaging, and memorable learning experience, and for that, we are so thankful.\r\n\r\nWe are so excited to keep exploring more creatures and their life cycles, building on the curiosity and excitement this experience has sparked in our students.","fullyFundedDate":1762266310419,"projectUrl":"project/experiencing-the-butterfly-life-cycle-fi/9813213/","projectTitle":"Experiencing the Butterfly Life Cycle Firsthand","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9868054_orig.jpg?crop=1047,1047,x1240,y1216&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774071135111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melmartinez"},{"teacherId":9868054,"projectId":9791848,"letterContent":"This technology has helped my students learn by giving them hands-on experience with sequencing, problem-solving, and collaboration. Using a single Ozobot, students worked together to design mazes and pathways that the robot could follow. They learned how to plan steps in the correct order, test their ideas, and revise their work when the robot did not move as expected. This made abstract concepts like sequencing and coding much more concrete and engaging for young learners.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students was seeing their ideas come to life. They were thrilled when the Ozobot successfully followed the tracks they created. Students also designed a \"town\" with different stops, such as a school and a hospital, which helped connect technology to real-world locations they recognize. Watching the robot travel through their town sparked creativity and kept students motivated throughout the lesson.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who are typically quieter in class especially warmed up to this technology. They became leaders during the activity by helping teammates plan routes, troubleshoot problems, and test different track designs. The enthusiasm and teamwork I observed showed how powerful this technology is in building confidence, cooperation, and excitement for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1762266401063,"projectUrl":"project/coding-comes-alive-beebots-ozobots-fo/9791848/","projectTitle":"Coding Comes Alive: BeeBots & Ozobots for Curious Second Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9868054_orig.jpg?crop=1047,1047,x1240,y1216&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774071135111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melmartinez"},{"teacherId":9868054,"projectId":9261943,"letterContent":"When our drying rack arrived, my students were so excited! Students were always spread out at their desks, which made it harder to come together as a community. With your generous support, we now have a carpet that has become the heart of our classroom. The moment my students sit down on it, they know it's time to focus, listen, and share with one another.
