Your contribution has made an incredible difference in our classroom, and I am thrilled to share how these resources are enhancing our students' learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThe Magic Tree House book, Dinosaurs Before Dark, has been an exciting addition to our classroom. It introduces students to essential reading skills such as making predictions, understanding sequence of events, and connecting the text to their own lives. The rich vocabulary and engaging narrative also allow us to explore comprehension strategies like context clues, retelling, and identifying the main idea. For many of my students, this is the first chapter book they've read on their own, and it's been a thrilling journey to watch them dive into the story and explore its world. These early experiences with chapter books lay the foundation for their growing reading confidence and fluency.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an interactive and engaging process. We often start by reading together, discussing new vocabulary, and asking open-ended questions to encourage critical thinking. During independent reading, students apply the skills they've learned to tackle new texts with confidence. The Magic Tree House book has sparked excitement, and many students eagerly volunteer to read aloud or share their favorite parts. It has created an environment where reading is fun, and students are eager to explore new books. The daily use of the paddle whiteboards has also been invaluable, especially in our UFLI lessons. These whiteboards help students with letter formation and phonemic awareness, which are critical skills in early literacy development. Every day, we practice writing letters and words, and the whiteboards allow students to quickly practice and refine their skills. The added visual support of the lines on the boards has given students the structure they need to improve their handwriting and letter spacing, which is especially beneficial for students still developing their motor skills.\r\n\r\nI have seen a remarkable transformation in several students since the donation. One student, in particular, has shown immense growth in their reading confidence. Initially, they were hesitant to participate in reading activities, but with the Magic Tree House book, they have become more excited and willing to engage with the text. They now proudly read aloud during group sessions, sharing their favorite moments from the story. Another student, who has struggled with handwriting, has made great strides in improving their letter formation thanks to the whiteboards. The visual cues and the ability to easily practice have been instrumental in building their confidence in writing.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided essential resources for my students but also sparked a love for reading and learning in our classroom. The donations have made a tangible difference in their literacy development, and for that, we are truly grateful. Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping us create an enriching learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1730733511058,"projectUrl":"project/dinosaurs-before-dark/8871504/","projectTitle":"Dinosaurs Before Dark!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moreau","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9800732"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82562","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":265,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"10.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":43.8,"schoolId":82562,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about North Valley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"North Valley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/gadsden-independent-school-district/north-valley-elementary-school/82562"}
