Jewelry is a brand-new project, class, and club at our school, and students are visibly more excited now that they can see all the behind the scenes hard work coming to life. As the studio becomes more organized, students are also seeing how deeply their learning is valued, every labeled drawer, tool, and workstation shows them that this space was built for them.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments has been watching students take ownership of the studio itself. They are eager to use the label maker to identify tools and materials, and they are playing a key role in helping organize the space. This process is teaching them responsibility, systems thinking, and studio habits that they will carry with them far beyond this classroom. Students are directly impacted by their environment, and with increased organization, we now have more time, energy, and focus for creativity.\r\n\r\nBecause the studio is finally organized, Jewelry Club is officially ready to launch, something that would not have been possible without these tools. Even our painting and drawing students are benefiting, they're about to bezel-set paintings they created, combining disciplines in a way that feels exciting and professional. This project has unlocked so many possibilities, and we are incredibly grateful. Because of you, our students now have the essential tools and materials they need to explore jewelry making, a form of creative expression and craftsmanship deeply connected to the artistic traditions of Albuquerque and the Southwest.\r\n\r\nSeeing the project come together in our jewelry studio has been an unforgettable moment for our students. When they first saw the new tools, copper and brass sheets, files, bezel-setting tools, and more, they were genuinely thrilled. Many of them had never had the chance to work with real metals or professional equipment before. Right away, they began imagining the designs they would create, and you could see their confidence grow simply from having the right tools to make it happen.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is already shaping classroom culture in powerful ways. Students are participating in organizing and caring for the new workspace, learning how to handle tools safely, and collaborating with peers on design ideas. They're not just making jewelry, they're learning patience, problem-solving, precise craftsmanship, and pride in their work. And because the studio is now equipped and inviting, students are more engaged, creative, and ready to take risks artistically.\r\n\r\nRight now, Jewelry Club is gearing up to launch our first project cycle. This program not only gives them a creative outlet, it connects them to Albuquerque's rich cultural legacy of metalwork and art.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping our students shine bright, for giving them the tools to learn, create, and see themselves as capable makers and artists. Your support has truly opened doors and sparked inspiration that will last long after this year ends. ♡","fullyFundedDate":1768440632067,"projectUrl":"project/shining-bright-launching-our-high-schoo/9857473/","projectTitle":"Shining Bright: Launching our High School Jewelry Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Farel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7825643_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y33&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761421765017","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-farel"},{"teacherId":163969,"projectId":9159175,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my dynamic shelving project! The books really stand out now that I am able to make them forward facing. I've already seen students perusing the new displays as well as checking out books. \r\n\r\n The students really enjoy coming into the library to choose free reading materials. Having dynamic shelving really helps them see books they may never have been interested in before. The books are not crammed together on a shelf and it makes browsing so much easier for them. The rotating shelf is placed next to the desk and features new books. \r\n\r\nI would love to continue to have the whole library feature dynamic shelving. The addition of a 3D printer has transformed abstract chemical concepts—like molecular geometry, polarity, and bonding—into interactive models that students can see, touch, and manipulate. This has been especially powerful for visual and kinesthetic learners who benefit from physically engaging with the content, allowing them to grasp difficult topics that are often hard to visualize through textbooks or 2D diagrams alone.\r\n\r\nThe ability to print customized models has also brought more creativity and collaboration into our classroom. Students have taken ownership of their learning by designing and assembling their own molecular structures, engaging in deeper discussions about why atoms bond in certain ways and how shape affects function. Lab groups have used the models to predict molecular behavior and compare theoretical structures with real-world applications, enhancing both critical thinking and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this grant has made learning more inclusive and exciting. Students who previously struggled with chemistry concepts now feel more confident and enthusiastic about science. The 3D printer has turned our classroom into a mini-lab of discovery, where curiosity leads the way and learning becomes active and meaningful. I'm incredibly grateful for this resource—it's had a lasting impact on how my students see and understand the world of chemistry.","fullyFundedDate":1734708183412,"projectUrl":"project/molecular-models-a-3d-learning-experien/9012446/","projectTitle":"Molecular Models: A 3D Learning Experience","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Grant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9878280_orig.jpg?crop=860,860,x981,y739&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734625164484","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9878280"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53176","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1821,"numTeachers":91,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.8,"schoolId":53176,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about La Cueva High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"La Cueva High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/albuquerque-public-schools/la-cueva-high-school/53176"}
