They always pick their favorite titles, DogMan and Catkids Comics. Several students who are into astronomy, rocks and science topics, were really impressed with the quality and depth of the non-fiction Spanish books.\r\n\r\nWe have incorporated these books most recently in the classroom by having students partner read out loud. This is an important warm-up for pronunciation and a way to provide familiarity with the language for second-language students. This is also an important skill for our heritage students who mostly speak the language relying on oral skills, but read very little literature in Spanish. For them, this is supporting their overall reading comprehension skills. The classroom library lacked material appropriate for their age, but not they have many more relevant options.\r\n\r\nStudents are also making recordings of themselves reading so that they can compare their fluency after lessons on prosody and sinalefa. Students are finding out how to connect the Spanish words together in fluid discourse. At the end of the year they will make another recording, hopefully building a portfolio to measure progress over their time in middle school Spanish.\r\n\r\nFinally, I think one group of 8th grade students are so inspired by having literature choices, that for their final unit, instead of reading short pages of texts and targeting vocabulary, they have challenged themselves to read an entire book. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for providing engaging materials for students to work with in meaningful ways. The students are impressed by your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1768265646985,"projectUrl":"project/spanish-books-for-k-8-to-love-the-langua/9715437/","projectTitle":"Spanish Books for K-8 to Love the Language.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brindle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10262196"},{"teacherId":7765208,"projectId":9879595,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been able to integrate new technology that is truly transforming the way my students learn. While many families are familiar with technology at home, using these tools in a structured school setting opens exciting academic opportunities. Students are engaging with lessons in deeper ways—practicing reading fluency with interactive texts, exploring math concepts through visual models, and collaborating in real time on shared projects. The technology allows every student, regardless of learning style, to access content at their level while also building confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the sense of ownership and creativity this new product brings to their learning. They love being able to annotate texts, record their thinking, and demonstrate understanding through multimedia responses. Small-group activities have become more dynamic, discussions more interactive, and even reluctant learners are eager to participate when technology is involved. The classroom energy has shifted; students feel empowered, curious, and proud of the work they produce.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful impacts has been on students who typically struggle to stay engaged. A few of my quieter students have found their voice through digital tools that let them express ideas in new ways, and several students who often need additional support are now completing assignments more confidently because the technology scaffolds their learning. Seeing these students light up—and knowing they feel successful—is a direct result of your donation. Your contribution is not just improving instruction; it is strengthening student agency, joy, and achievement each day. I've waited to take pictures, so that you can see the resulting flowers and vegetable plants growing.\r\nWe now have a garden that the children are so proud of!
