A lot of my kids don't get to eat breakfast or much food at home. I was able to give them food in class when they were hungry. YOU gave them food when they were hungry. \r\n\r\nIf at times a student might seem a little upset, I could ask if they would like a snack and once they finished it, their mood would instantly change and engagement increased by leaps and bounds. You gave them their moment of learning back. \r\n\r\nI had a student who wasn't allowed to cook at home and he was always hungry in the evening, because there was never dinner. I gave him food to take home for his evening. His Christmas card said \"Thank you for caring more than teachers should.\" But, I believe we all should care. And care greatly. You allowed that to happen when I couldn't afford it. You gave that to us, and I couldn't be more grateful. My students mean the world to me.
