This is the first mural of the year. The younger students get to enjoy watching the older students work on a community project while also seeing art inspired by the artist they were studying. All students were very excited to see these wonderful murals on their way to lunch. During the month of September students from kinder through 8th grade will be learning about color and value creating art inspired about Georgia O'Keeffe and Henri Rousseau. We will begin creating flower and forests on paper, and then transferring these ideas into a clay mural. We will install clay flowers and leaves on all floors so that every student gets to enjoy their clay/paint murals as they walk down the school hallways. We will continue beautifying our school through out the year, creating murals inspired by other artist and framing student artwork.\r\n\r\nThe art supplies you donated will provide all our students with a variety of materials to explore different artists, styles and techniques. We spend approximately six weeks teaching about one artist, style, or art movement. We begin every unit reading about the subject being explored. Students create art inspired by a group of very diverse artists from around the world. We have different art units on a 4-year rotation. There is no repetition of artists for these 4 years, but there is a reinforcement of the styles, periods, and elements of art and principles of design. Every year we do one ceramic mural so that students' work stays displayed on the walls, and the rest of the projects students can take home.\r\n\r\nI can't thank you enough for all your generous donations. I am so proud of our Cien Aguas community and so grateful to our donors from all over the country. My heart is full with joy knowing that we will have enough supplies for this school year.
