I mostly wondered how to obtain the basic materials necessary for 300 students to build, create and explore in my classroom. Your donations have given our students access to tape, glue, cardboard cutting tools, plastic bins for organizing our many materials, smocks to protect their clothing, and other supplies vital to a STEAM Lab! \r\n In December, my kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders were thrilled to learn that they would be using cardboard saws, drills, and hot glue guns (with supervision) in order to create cardboard robots! This craft is part of a larger computer science unit during which I introduced students to coding basics. In seeming disbelief, students repeatedly asked if they would actually get to use the \"real tools.\" They thrived when given this responsibility and their drive and focus was incredible!\r\n Moving forward, your donations will also provide many of the materials needed for our 4th and 5th graders to put into action physics concepts, imagination and creativity as they work in teams to engineer interactive arcade games made from cardboard, tape, glue and miscellaneous trash items. Thanks to you, these amazing children have what they need to engage in hands-on, authentic learning opportunities that will benefit them for years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1754789082519,"projectUrl":"project/south-valley-students-seek-steam-lab-sta/9523358/","projectTitle":"South Valley Students Seek STEAM Lab Staples","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10105313_orig.png?crop=184,184,x0,y14&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754259368055","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10105313"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82428","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":313,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":94,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.8,"schoolId":82428,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Adobe Acres Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Adobe Acres Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/albuquerque-public-schools/adobe-acres-elementary-school/82428"}
