When the students first saw the boxes of snacks and clothing items, there were audible gasps of excitement and lots of \"For us?\" questions. Their eyes widened at the number of packages and the impact was felt right away! One student was so relieved to swap a pair of socks with a bothersome hole for a fresh set, and another was able to play outside happily without irritation because her new socks protect her feet from the playground mulch.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the snacks for those moments when a student forgets to bring one from home. One student in particular fell in love with the pretzels. He asked if we could have a \"Movie and Pretzel Party\" on a rainy day. When the clouds finally rolled in, we did exactly that, and his face absolutely lit up!\r\n\r\nWith the social-emotional resources, I have been able to foster a more nurturing and emotionally intelligent environment. We now have many materials to help teach students about their emotions and to allow them to identify and express their feelings. Just the other day in the Calm Down Corner, I watched two students use the Feelings Puppets to talk through a conflict. One used a puppet to ask, \"How are you feeling?\" and the other picked up the \"angry\" puppet to explain, \"I'm mad because the blocks center is full!\" It was a huge win for their communication skills.\r\n\r\nI am especially looking forward to using these social-emotional resources starting in September of future school years. Having these materials available from day one will allow me to give my incoming students the knowledge and tools they need to build a strong emotional foundation from the very start of the year!","fullyFundedDate":1768780368815,"projectUrl":"project/nurturing-little-minds-and-hearts/10040885/","projectTitle":"Nurturing Little Minds and Hearts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shaffer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7267768_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755310053895","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7267768"},{"teacherId":8561328,"projectId":10038734,"letterContent":"I am writing to extend my heartfelt thanks for your incredibly generous donation of classroom supplies, including bookshelves, snacks, cleaning materials, and hygiene items. Your support has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our students and learning environment.\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, the excitement in the classroom was unmistakable. Students were truly thrilled—many of them eagerly helped unpack the items and couldn't wait to see how everything would be used. It was a powerful moment that reminded us how much thoughtful contributions like yours matter.\r\nThe new bookshelves have significantly improved the organization of our classroom. Previously, materials were stored in limited or overcrowded spaces, making it difficult for students to access what they needed. Now, everything has a designated place.\r\nThe snacks you provided have also made a big difference. They help ensure that students can stay focused and energized throughout the day, especially those who may not always have access to food outside of school. Having these available has reduced distractions and supported a more productive learning environment.\r\nYour donation of cleaning supplies and hygiene items has helped us maintain a healthier and more comfortable classroom. Students now have access to essentials that promote good hygiene habits, and we are better equipped to keep our shared space clean and welcoming for everyone.\r\nAltogether, your generosity has enhanced not only the physical space of our classroom but also the overall experience for our students. They feel supported, valued, and excited to learn—and that is a direct result of your kindness.\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and our students' success. Because of your kindness, my students now have new seat sacks, cozy pillows, and a beautiful new carpet to make our classroom more organized, comfortable, and inviting. Your contribution has truly transformed our learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe seat sacks are helping my students stay organized and take responsibility for their materials, while the pillows and carpet have created a warm, welcoming space where we can gather for read-alouds, lessons, and classroom discussions. As well as creating a comfortable space for my students to read during our DEAR times. These additions have already made a meaningful difference in our daily routines and in my students' excitement about coming to school.\r\n\r\nIt has become increasingly more challenging each year moving funds around to afford new seat sacks for my students, or reusing the old ones from several years past. I am incredibly grateful to have a new set, a new carpet, and comfortable pillows to use for years to come. \r\n\r\nOn behalf of my first graders and their families, thank you for investing in our classroom and in their learning.
