Many of our students had never experienced 3D design or printing before, and now they are learning how to turn their ideas into real objects while also exploring important conversations about mindfulness, self-awareness, and mental health. The technology has given students an opportunity to problem solve, think critically, and express themselves in ways that traditional assignments do not always allow.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students has been seeing their designs come to life on the 3D printer. Watching an idea move from a computer screen to a finished product has sparked so much excitement, curiosity, and confidence in our classroom. Students are especially proud when creating items connected to positivity, calming tools, and encouraging messages that they can use or share with others. The project has also encouraged collaboration, patience, and perseverance as students work through the design process together.\r\n\r\nSome students who are usually quiet or hesitant in class have truly flourished with this technology. Students who sometimes struggle with traditional classroom activities have become leaders during design projects, eagerly helping classmates and sharing creative ideas. It has been incredible to watch students feel empowered by their success and excited to come to class each day. Your support has not only provided technology for our classroom, but it has also helped create a positive and welcoming environment where students feel inspired, valued, and capable. Many of them come to school each day facing harsh weather conditions, and having access to warm hats, scarves, and gloves ensured that they could arrive comfortable, focused, and ready to learn. We created a simple system in our classroom where students could choose what they needed each morning, and it quickly became part of our daily routine. One moment that stood out was seeing a student who had previously kept their hands tucked into their sleeves finally able to participate fully in outdoor recess, smiling and playing with confidence because they felt warm and included.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were filled with excitement and gratitude. Some immediately picked out items in their favorite colors, while others expressed relief knowing they wouldn't have to face the cold unprepared. It also sparked meaningful conversations about kindness, community, and helping others, as students began to better understand how people can support one another in times of need.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are now able to spend more time engaged in learning rather than distracted by discomfort. As we move forward, we are continuing to build on lessons around community and empathy, incorporating discussions and activities that highlight the importance of caring for others. Your contribution not only provided essential winter gear but also helped create a warmer, more supportive classroom environment where every student feels valued and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1769307638780,"projectUrl":"project/warmth-for-winter/10052608/","projectTitle":"Warmth for Winter","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Flynn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9341739_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699039469543","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9341739"},{"teacherId":9341739,"projectId":9676881,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom. Thanks to you, my students now have access to fidgets that they use daily to help them focus, regulate their bodies, and stay engaged in learning. For many of my students, especially those who struggle with attention and sensory needs, having something appropriate to manipulate with their hands has made a noticeable difference. Instead of becoming distracted or overwhelmed, students are better able to listen, participate, and remain seated during lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen the fidgets first arrived, my students were beyond excited. They carefully explored the different options and quickly learned how to use them responsibly as tools for learning. It was incredibly rewarding to see students who often have difficulty focusing feel empowered and successful. Several students even expressed how the fidgets help them feel calmer and more in control during class activities.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these fidgets will continue to be an essential part of our daily routine. We are using them during lessons, small group work, and independent tasks to support sustained attention and self-regulation. This project has been an overwhelming success, transforming our instructional time into a dynamic, empathetic, and truly interdisciplinary learning experience. Your investment has yielded incredible results in both literacy development and global citizenship.\r\n\r\nThis powerful novel helped us teach essential skills by connecting the story to the real world. Students learned to follow and analyze two separate storylines that eventually came together. This helped them understand how authors build a complex plot and switch perspectives.\r\n\r\nWe looked past what simply happened to discuss the big ideas in the book, like perseverance and global responsibility. Students understood that the author used a fictional story to teach us about real-world humanitarian needs. The book prompted students to connect the narrative to real-world applications in geography and STEM.\r\n\r\nThe novel's themes, particularly perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit, effectively fostered curiosity and allowed students to connect the story's deeper life lessons to both personal reflection and global issues.","fullyFundedDate":1758656642745,"projectUrl":"project/a-journey-of-empathy-a-long-walk-to-wa/9716253/","projectTitle":"A Journey of Empathy: \"A Long Walk to Water\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Al-Houssein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2334073_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1484778975938","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2334073"},{"teacherId":1933598,"projectId":9329462,"letterContent":"Thank you for being amazing!
