Many were eager to explore the travel-themed items. There was a sense of adventure that energized the classroom, and it was clear that the supplies made the pre-departure meeting feel more engaging and real. Some students even began discussing places they would love to visit, which encouraged conversations about different cultures and geography.\r\n\r\nFor the next steps, students will use the travel supplies to travel to England and France was they venture across the globe, visit different countries, visit famous landmarks such as the American Cemetery from World War II, are exposed to different cultures, and expand their horizons. This expands their career possibilities beyond traditional graphic design, giving them new avenues for artistic expression and introducing a real, immediate revenue stream they can tap into now.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project truly special is the hands-on experience my students gain. Once they complete the publishing stage, I guide them through the promotional side of the industry. They don't just print their graphic novels in full color—they also develop their personal brand and create merchandise like T-shirts, bags, mugs, and posters to support their work.\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular, is taking this project to the next level. She has created a 34-page graphic novel set to launch in May, exploring the powerful and often-overlooked story of a young girl growing up with an undiagnosed mental health condition. Her work will pioneer a new genre of graphic novels, secure a place in the Paterson Public Library, and be featured in a four-stop Barnes & Noble book signing tour. Plus, her novel will be available through Amazon Books, giving her work a national platform.\r\n\r\nThis is an exciting moment at Eastside High School—and we're only just getting started.
