My students are English-Language Learners from all over this city. Many are bused to this school to accommodate their needs. This is an amazing, positive atmosphere, yet we lack the supplies to make the learning process smooth. The students are eager to learn and willing to try. I am eager to teach and watch them grow. The majority of the students speak Spanish. There are a few Arabic speakers, as well. This provides many challenges that we must overcome together. I am eager to see the growth and development in these non-English speakers over the years. In my 22 1/2 years of teaching, I have not worked with middle school students. It is a big shift for me. I am left with a plethora of materials that are not suitable for this age range. I am able to adapt some, but most are useless right now. I will be starting to teach this group with basically nothing. I will be counting on donations to help!
