However the Mending Broken Hearts project, celebrating the 2026 ESL graduates, did not go according to plans. There were a few setbacks on the way, as the project items arrived too late. They arrived at the beginning of this school year and even when the time to fulfill the ordered items came, a few of the items were discontinued. \r\nHowever, this is not to say that your donation didn't have the full intended impact. The few original items on the list that arrived, will happily be used to celebrate the ESL Graduation Class of 2027. They are already excited that they will be celebrated in style at the end of the year and are looking forward to it.\r\nFurthermore, the donnorschoose.org team was highly efficient in providing me with the opportunity to have replacement items instead of the discontinued ones. I went on to choose learning materials for my students that will greatly impact their english learning skills from speaking, reading and writing. Students will be empowered with new and exciting learning strategies that will prepare some of them for college and some of them will better be prepared for the workforce. Knowledge and preparation mean success. My students love to login in the Connect to Literacy platform and use their beautiful headphones made possible for them by you. They are enjoying the program and they are enjoying themselves too. Their literacy scores have gone up for this marking period and we are happy. \r\n\r\nYour donation has made a difference not only in their academic performance but in their personalities too. I am not exaggerating I say that they have become a little bit of better people too. It shifted their mindset. As many of them come from poor families, there were students who never got a gift from anyone outside their close family. I took my chance and developed a lesson on gratitude and kindness of strangers as a strong foundation for a person's values. The hearts of my students are harboring gratitude for you and as a class, we've made it our goal to show gratitude and do an act of kindness every day, even if it is a small thing such as opening the door for a friend or saying hi to a teacher they had a class with the previous year. It was my students idea to create a thank you poster for you.
