You should've seen their faces as they started exploring everything!\r\n\r\nWe've already put the materials to good use. One of our favorite activities so far was building and testing mini bridges with the magnetic blocks. The room was full of teamwork, problem solving, and happy cheers every time a bridge held strong. It's been incredible to watch them think like little engineers and take pride in what they create.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our Fridays have turned into hands on learning adventures that my students truly look forward to. The materials you helped provide have been put to wonderful use as morning bins for STEM activities — and the results have been nothing short of amazing.\r\nEach morning, students now rush into the classroom, full of energy and eager to dive into their morning bins. These hands-on activities have completely changed the way we start our day. They spark curiosity, encourage collaboration, and build critical thinking skills — all before the first bell even rings!\r\nI'll never forget their reactions when we first opened the boxes. Their faces lit up with excitement, and many couldn't believe these amazing tools were really for them. From building structures to exploring basic engineering concepts, these resources have become a beloved part of our daily routine.\r\nYou didn't just donate supplies — you gave my students a reason to be excited about learning every single day. It has been an indispensible item in my classroom from the get-go. This carpet has brought together my entire room not just decoratively but also the classroom community. Every morning students come to the carpet for morning meeting and we spend quality time together by getting to know each other and helping students develop their social emotional needs. Furthermore, this year my school district implemented a new reading/writing curriculum. This curriculum requires frequent conferring, moving from whole to small group (carpet to desk), and using mentor texts to help further develop their reading and writing skills. Having the carpet gives students a communal spot to meet and it allows for student to have a place to work with their partners during the reading and writing block. \r\n\r\nThe first few days when school began this year the students walked into the classroom and saw that there wasn't a carpet. It was difficult to get them to imagine their carpet spots and to sit on our \"imaginary carpet\". However, when the carpet arrived and they walked in the morning after rolling it out, I heard gasps and \"omg's\". Students were so excited to sit on the carpet and excited to sit in their carpet spots. Ever since then, my lessons have gone smoother, the community within the classroom has gotten stronger. I am extremely grateful for this donation because without it I would not have been able to purchase one and my classroom community may have been affected as well. I will be able to use this carpet for many many years to come and I look forward to all the community to be built, and students to teach from it. Your donations have allowed my students to further explore the STEAM field and extend their creativity and exploration. \r\n\r\nWhen all the new materials arrived, my students were in awe. They already love the few STEM activities we have and these new additions truly made their day. The marble run has especially been a hit! I also love watching them interact with the marble run because it takes so much trial and error and teamwork. Watching my students work together and discuss possible solutions to a problem is exactly why I find STEAM based activities so crucial to the development of young learners.\r\n\r\nAll these new resources have allowed me to extend the choices on our STEM themed days. My students now have the opportunity to explore a wider variety of activities. It has also allowed me the flexibility to plan more engaging lessons. My students look forward to these days and truly enjoy using all the new materials. In this day and age where technology is at the forefront of these students lives, I am so happy to be able to provide them with tangible, thought provoking, and collaborative experiences that allow them to foster their creativity and build their problem solving skills.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and your commitment to bettering the lives and education of young learners!","fullyFundedDate":1731537273520,"projectUrl":"project/lets-prioritize-steam-in-the-elementary/8534917/","projectTitle":"Let's Prioritize STEAM in the Elementary Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Taboada","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7718946_orig.png?crop=616,616,x0,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1610476287902","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7718946"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81575","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":500,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":19,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"8.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.6,"schoolId":81575,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Livingston Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Livingston Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/north-brunswick-township-public-school-district/livingston-park-elementary-school/81575"}
