These easels are more than just equipment; they are the gateways through which my students can explore their imaginations, experiment with new ideas, and bring their visions to life. This opportunity fosters not only artistic skill but also a sense of confidence and pride in their abilities. \r\n\r\nYour thoughtful investment in their artistic journey allows them to embrace the power of creation and discovery, opening up new possibilities for their futures. Whether they are drawing with charcoal or painting with acrylics or oils, these experiences give them the freedom to think beyond the classroom and engage with the world in new and vibrant ways.\r\n\r\nI am deeply appreciative of your belief in the transformative power of art education and the difference it makes in the lives of young learners. We've used these for both drawing and painting activities so far. We plan to use them more when the new semester rolls around. So far, we worked them in when working on sketching a simple still life and then again when doing color studies for a simple still life. \r\n\r\nMy students have not worked on easels before. Some found it unnerving because they had to stand (for this assignment anyway!). They worked through it and had success. Their success will continue as they have more exposure which will come in another few weeks as we return to still life and work on using various methods to record objects at a distance (versus using a grid and photos). \r\n\r\nIn closing, I'm excited to have students learn techniques based upon traditional atelier-style methods such as sighting and working from life. Next year, I'm planning on taking a course and learn how to leverage drawing from life even more. I'm so very thankful for your investment in my students and my Studio Art program.","fullyFundedDate":1720822117808,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-see-through-direct-observati/8470877/","projectTitle":"Learning To See Through Direct Observation","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Phillips","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2241610_orig.jpg?crop=1103,1103,x0,y77&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721148442556","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jeffreyphillips"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70802","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1204,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":53.2,"schoolId":70802,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Leap Academy University Charter School STEM 9-12 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Leap Academy University Charter School STEM 9-12","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/new-jersey-department-of-education/leap-university-charter-high-school/70802"}
