Because of you, our inaugural year is off and running in the most exciting way. Our drumline spans grades 9–12, with students practicing before school every Wednesday through Friday morning. Even more inspiring, three-quarters of our members choose to practice independently during their lunch periods. When the students first saw the new drums you helped provide, their excitement was unforgettable—there were smiles, cheers, and an immediate sense that something special was beginning. Your investment gave our students not just instruments, but pride, ownership, and belief in what they can accomplish together.\r\n\r\nIn just a short time, our drumline has become a vibrant presence in our school and community. They regularly perform at football games and pep rallies, bringing energy and unity to our campus. They recently played at our Black History Month dinner for students and families, performed at a holiday-themed Camden community event, and even led 8th graders through a hands-on drumline lesson during our open house for prospective students. What makes these accomplishments even more remarkable is that every single member only began drumming this year. Their growth in skill, confidence, and leadership has been extraordinary to witness.\r\n\r\nAlthough this is only our first year, we are committed to building a high-performing program that becomes an identity marker for KIPP High School in Camden. We are actively seeking more opportunities to perform both within our school and throughout the broader community, while continuing to strengthen our individual and collective musicianship. Our long-term vision is for this drumline to open doors—serving as a pathway to college admission and scholarship opportunities for our students. None of this would be possible without your belief in our kids.
