The resources include a variety of hands-on tools that support fine motor development, sensory regulation, visual-motor integration, and social participation. Students use manipulatives, games, and skill-based activities to work on goals such as hand strength, coordination, attention, problem-solving, and following multi-step directions. One meaningful moment occurred during a small-group session when students independently rotated through activity stations, using different materials to complete tasks while remaining engaged and regulated throughout the session.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many were eager to explore the tools and asked questions about how to use them. Even students who typically struggle with motivation or sustained attention were eager to participate, demonstrating increased engagement and positive behavior during sessions. The materials transformed therapy time into an experience that felt fun and inviting, while still targeting important developmental and academic skills.\r\nThese resources have allowed me to better individualize instruction and meet students at their current skill levels. As a next step, students will continue to use these materials to build independence, generalize skills to the classroom, and apply strategies learned in therapy to academic tasks such as writing, cutting, organization, and group work. The materials will remain a consistent part of therapy sessions throughout the year, supporting students as they progress toward their goals and greater success in the school environment.","fullyFundedDate":1756135339561,"projectUrl":"project/building-skills-one-step-at-a-time/9640935/","projectTitle":"Building Skills, One Step at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mayer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10212826_orig.png?crop=450,450,x0,y27&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755961669434","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10212826"},{"teacherId":8130264,"projectId":9097553,"letterContent":"The seat sacks have really been useful. The students are able to keep their dry erase boards, independent reading books, their notebooks, and picture dictionaries in their seat sacks. The seat sacks allow the students to have their materials easily accessible to them.\r\n\r\nSince the students were not expecting the seat sacks, they were pleasantly surprised to see them. They were excited to start using them. When they walked in this morning, I overheard all of them saying \"we got new seat sacks!\" The seat sacks enable them to keep frequently used items accessible to them, therefore saving the students time. Now when they need to get any of the items that are kept in their seat sacks, the items are right there for them to use. Even though we had seat sacks before, they were falling apart and they were also too big for the chairs, so their belongings were always falling out and onto the floor.\r\n\r\nThe students will continue to use the seat sacks for the rest of the school year. I will continue to use them with next years class and so on and so forth.
