Your generosity has had a real and meaningful impact on my students. Having support through this project has allowed me to be more intentional and reliable in meeting my students' needs.\r\n\r\nMy teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea of Maslow before Bloom. Before students can engage in higher-level thinking, reading comprehension, or structured writing, their basic needs must be met. Many of my students come to school tired, hungry, overwhelmed, or emotionally dysregulated. Expecting them to immediately sit down, focus, work for long periods of time without breaks, and perform academically without addressing those needs simply does not work.\r\n\r\nTo some, classroom snacks may look like spoiling students, but in reality, they are one part of a larger system of support. Snacks help students regulate their bodies so they can regulate their minds. In my classroom, snacks work alongside other focus tools such as fidgets, plushies, class breaks, calm lighting, and flexible seating. These are not distractions. They are tools that help students feel safe, grounded, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nI always begin my lessons with a short social-emotional check-in. This allows students to reflect on how they are feeling when they walk into the room and request support when needed. Everything in my classroom is intentional. Sometimes snacks are offered when students meet reading or writing goals. Other times, they are provided on days when students are struggling to stay focused or emotionally regulated.\r\n\r\nWhen the snacks arrived, my students were genuinely excited and appreciative. There was a noticeable shift in the room. Students felt supported and understood. Snacks are usually given during class breaks, which helps students reset before returning to academic work. That reset often makes the difference between a student shutting down and a student trying again.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this approach is clear. When students feel calm and supported, behavior improves and learning increases. I have seen students push through difficult writing tasks and sustain focus during independent reading. When their basic needs are met, students are more willing to take academic risks and engage meaningfully with their work.\r\n\r\nThis project has helped me create a classroom where learning and emotional safety go hand in hand. Your donations did not just provide snacks. They supported a philosophy that puts students first. Thank you so much for helping my students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day.","fullyFundedDate":1769191964329,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-snacks/9961409/","projectTitle":"Classroom Snacks","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. R.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10385730"},{"teacherId":6877517,"projectId":9503031,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of bouncy bands and beanbags for our classroom. Because of your kindness, my students now have extended options for flexible seating that truly support their individual learning needs. These simple yet powerful tools have already made a noticeable difference in how students engage, focus, and feel throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is made up of diverse learners, and having choices in how they sit and move while learning has helped many students find comfort and confidence. The bouncy bands allow students who need movement to stay regulated and attentive, while the beanbags provide a calm, cozy space for completing collaborative assignments and independent work. I have seen students take greater ownership of their learning as they choose seating that helps them do their best.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the children absolutely love these new additions and frequently express how happy and comfortable they feel while learning.
