They were able to explore the different items, like the breathing ball, pinwheels and handheld mirrors to see how they work before incorporating them into their learning about emotions. \r\n\r\nWe have been using the materials in the classroom to teach the students how to regulate their emotions. When a student becomes frustrated or angry, we are encouraging them to use these materials in order to identify what they are feeling (with the mirrors) and well as having strategies to cope with that feeling (using the breathing ball or pinwheels). \r\n\r\nThese materials have been a huge help in the classroom, especially for this age of students. The materials really make these difficult concepts more concrete and real for the students.
