As we read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, students participate in chapter reviews, vocabulary activities, and comprehension discussions to deepen their understanding. \r\n\r\nTo bring the book to life, each student received an acceptance letter to Hogwarts and will experience exciting elements from the story, such as receiving a wand, trying magical treats like Chocolate Frogs and Every Flavor Beans, and being sorted into their Houses. These activities have made the reading experience more meaningful and have helped students connect with the text in a fun and memorable way. Through these engaging lessons, students are not only improving their reading comprehension but also developing a love for literature that extends beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nNone of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors. Since this novel is written in verse, it also introduced my students to the unique ways that structure and form can shape meaning and emotion in a story.\r\n\r\nIn our discussions, we focused on how Will's encounters with the ghosts of his past challenge him to rethink the cycle of violence.
