For many, access to consistent, nutritious food (and even essential seasonal clothing) is not guaranteed. Most of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and your contributions help meet critical needs that directly impact their well-being.\r\n\r\nThe snacks you provided are far more than just food. They are a source of comfort, stability, and care. Proper nutrition plays a vital role in supporting students' mental health and emotional well-being. When students are not distracted by hunger, they are better able to regulate their emotions, engage in counseling services, and build positive coping skills within our program. We were able to distribute 30-35 snacks daily to our participants and their smiles and \"thank you, Ms.\" were worth it. \r\n\r\nLikewise, the sweaters, gloves, and hats you've donated ensure that our students stay warm, comfortable, and focused during colder months. Having appropriate clothing helps reduce stress and embarrassment, allowing students to attend school with confidence and dignity. The hats and gloves were especially needed as temperatures suddenly plummeted, and many were unprepared for the weather. \r\n\r\nMeeting these fundamental needs is important. Students who feel physically cared for are more present in the classroom, more engaged in learning, and better equipped to succeed academically. Your generosity helps create an environment where students feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, our students are reminded that their community truly cares about them and their future. They were very surprised to receive the supplies and genuinely touched.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your compassion and commitment to supporting our students.","fullyFundedDate":1769531445371,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-nutrition-a-safe-place/10061617/","projectTitle":"Mental Health, Nutrition, & a safe place for MS students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Elizabeth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10419205_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x196,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769704304027","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10419205"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_80541","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":525,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":68,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":80541,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Janis E Dismus Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Janis E Dismus Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/englewood-public-school-district/janis-e-dismus-middle-school/80541"}
