The new HP Color LaserJet printer has allowed me to provide students with immediate, high-quality printed materials—guided notes, primary sources, practice activities, and review packets—without delays or shortages. Many of my students learn best with physical materials in front of them, and having reliable access to printed resources has significantly improved their ability to stay focused, organized, and confident during lessons.\r\n\r\nWhile the printer has strengthened instruction, the snacks have had an equally powerful impact on my students' daily experience in the classroom. For many students, hunger is a real barrier to learning. The wide variety of snacks—ranging from fruit snacks and crackers to breakfast items—has helped ensure that students can focus on learning rather than on an empty stomach. Students feel seen and cared for when their basic needs are acknowledged, and the availability of snacks has created a calmer, more welcoming classroom atmosphere where students are better able to engage and participate.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from this project, including those who arrive late due to transportation issues, miss breakfast, or struggle with attention during longer class periods. These students are more present, more willing to participate, and more comfortable asking for help. Your support has gone far beyond providing supplies—it has helped create a classroom where students feel supported academically and personally. This is truly one of the highlights of the Englewood Public School District, hosting events for students pre-K through 12th grade, meetings for faculty, presentations for the community, and even visiting guests from other schools. \r\n\r\nYour donation allowed us to set up the Make & Take Station at DMHS. Students have access to school supplies--pens, pencils, highlighters, scissors, tape, staplers, hole punches, lined paper, glue sticks--and maker space supplies--clay, STEM kits, canvas panels, building block kits. These high school students have access to anything they might need for school during their lunch periods. Furthermore, classes are able to book this space throughout the day to all make use of the resources.\r\n\r\nThe goal of the Cyber Cafe is to have a computer lab, a maker space, a study space, and a student lounge all in one place on campus. We have over 1000 students just at the high school who have access to the space every day. We typically see anywhere from 30-50 students each day during the lunch periods on top of an additional 100 a week with class bookings. This doesn't include students who use the space during my after school tutorial on Tuesdays, clubs that use this space for meetings (such as SkillsUSA, the bowling team, the eSports team, Girls Who Code from the middle school), special events (our Academy programs will be in here all day in a month for a fun day of networking, competitions, and creative learning to celebrate all their hard work), and more. After learning that one of my students struggles with food insecurity, I saw how having reliable access to snacks helped them feel calmer, more focused, and less anxious about getting through the day. Hunger no longer stood between them and learning.\r\n\r\nThe vacuum transformed our physical space just as much as the snacks transformed our emotional one. Our rug and floors are now clean, welcoming, and cared for, making the classroom feel safe and respectful. A cleaner environment means fewer distractions, healthier students, and a room that tells them: you matter here.\r\n\r\nTogether, these resources created something larger than supplies. It takes abstract math concepts and turns them into something students can see, manipulate, and understand. Instead of just hearing an explanation, they interact with visuals, step-by-step models, and real-world examples. For students who struggle with processing or working memory, this is huge. They can slow it down, replay explanations, and practice without pressure. Learning becomes accessible instead of intimidating.\r\n\r\nWhat excites them most about this new math curriculum is that it finally makes sense. The lessons feel clear and purposeful, not rushed or confusing. Students love the visuals, the guided practice, and the immediate feedback. It feels less like \"doing work\" and more like solving puzzles. There's a spark when they realize, \"Wait... I actually get this.\" That moment is powerful.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have really connected with it. One student who used to shut down during math now stays engaged for the full lesson and asks to try bonus problems. Another who struggled with basic skills proudly explains their thinking out loud. The structure and clarity of the curriculum give them security, they know what to expect, and that predictability builds confidence.\r\n\r\nThis curriculum isn't just teaching math.\r\nIt's teaching belief.\r\nBelief in their ability.\r\nBelief that they can learn.\r\nAnd that changes everything.","fullyFundedDate":1764773994940,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-learning-with-high-quality-class/9919994/","projectTitle":"Fueling Learning With High-Quality Classroom Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Murphy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/thefamilyin549"},{"teacherId":10258289,"projectId":9710380,"letterContent":"The donation of language-based board games has fundamentally transformed our Friday classroom culture, shifting the end of the week from routine review to eagerly anticipated Fun Fridays. When the students first saw the box of new games, their reaction was one of pure excitement and curiosity. That immediate, joyful response set the tone for the entire initiative. We've been using the resources as a rewarding incentive for a week of hard work, and the impact has been clear: students are demonstrating improved camaraderie and critical thinking skills as they strategize and work together. For instance, watching them collaboratively tackle complex vocabulary in Apples to Apples or quickly decipher word clues in *Taboo* fosters a spirit of teamwork and shared success that carries over into our regular lessons. The games serve as a tangible reward, making hard work feel directly tied to a positive, communal experience.\r\n\r\n These games have made vocabulary building and language learning genuinely fun, which is invaluable in an English class that can sometimes feel challenging. The low-stakes, playful environment of Fun Fridays has given my students a new lens through which to view their learning. They are laughing, engaging in friendly competition, and organically reinforcing their English skills without the pressure of a test. I love the positive response; seeing their joy and hearing their laughter makes the classroom feel vibrant and alive. This positive cultural shift is the first step in a larger class goal: applying the communication and strategic skills they practice in the games to more complex literary analysis and debate activities. By making language mastery feel enjoyable and collaborative, the board games have laid a strong foundation for future, more demanding language projects.\r\n \r\n Thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1759265761432,"projectUrl":"project/game-day-friyay-with-ms-motyka/9710380/","projectTitle":"Game Day Friyay with Ms. Motyka","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. MOTYKA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10258289"},{"teacherId":317929,"projectId":9761413,"letterContent":"This project has opened a real pathway for my students. One of the most exciting projects we recently completed was a Constitution Day activity, where students analyzed primary source documents and created their own classroom constitution. The ability to provide high-quality printed materials for this project allowed students to engage more deeply, annotate directly on the documents, and collaborate effectively with their peers.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on my students' faces when they first saw the freshly printed materials was truly priceless. They were amazed at how clear and professional their assignments looked, and their enthusiasm for learning soared. One student even remarked, \"This makes it feel like we're working on something really important!\" Your generosity has provided them with a sense of ownership and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are diving into our next project—analyzing the impact of different economic systems in our Financial Literacy class. Thanks to your donation, we can now provide individualized printouts, enabling students to work at their own pace and have personalized access to the materials they need to succeed. Additionally, in our U.S. History lessons, we are preparing for an upcoming DBQ (Document-Based Question) exercise, where students will analyze historical sources and construct well-supported essays. Having printed copies of these critical sources allows students to engage in meaningful discussions and develop strong analytical skills.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kindness and support.
