The fraction tiles have really made a difference for students in comparing fractions. They get excited when we bring them out because they get to compare, add, and stack them to see how 1/2 is equivalent to 3/6. The magnets have helped them to visualize the fraction before comparing, and the white-erase mats are a great tool that allows them to break down and begin adding unlike fractions.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has made all the difference, and I owe the start of this year to you!","fullyFundedDate":1756166149409,"projectUrl":"project/fun-fractions-for-fearless-fourth-grader/9546580/","projectTitle":"Fun Fractions for Fearless Fourth Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henao","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9428201"},{"teacherId":3704632,"projectId":4139540,"letterContent":"Thanks to this project, my students now engage with reading and vocabulary in ways that feel exciting, meaningful, and culturally relevant. With Flocabulary, every new concept begins with a hip-hop video that captures their attention and makes them eager to learn. Instead of approaching reading as something difficult or intimidating, my students now see it as something they can connect to and enjoy. This has been especially powerful for students who often struggle with traditional text—they are now leaning in, singing along, and building confidence with every lesson.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has shifted from a passive activity to an active, creative experience. After watching each video, students dive into writing rhymes, drawing key vocabulary words, and answering interactive comprehension questions. They've become content creators, not just consumers, which has helped them think more critically about language and how it's used. The auto-graded quizzes also give them immediate feedback, helping them celebrate progress and understand where they need more practice.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting outcomes has been seeing particular students, especially reluctant readers find their voices through this program. Some of my quietest students are now confidently sharing the rhymes they've written, while others who typically rush through reading assignments are slowing down because they are motivated to connect their ideas to the lesson. Donors have given my students a resource that not only improves academic skills but also nurtures creativity, self-expression, and pride in their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1565704352706,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-my-learning-to-life/4139540/","projectTitle":"Bringing My Learning to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. EDENS","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3704632_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1479430663071","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/chromebooksforkids"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81071","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":262,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":77,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.9,"schoolId":81071,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ecole Toussaint Louverture on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ecole Toussaint Louverture","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/east-orange-school-district/ecole-toussaint-louverture/81071"}
