I teach a self contained middle school special education class, and I am always looking for unique ways to help my students learn. This project of building a business started as an idea between some of the girls in the class who wanted to make and sell bracelets. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to engage the students in a multi-disciplinary project, you amazing donors helped make it a reality.\r\n\r\nWith the donated supplies we received, students created their own friendship bracelet business. They created the name of our business, figured out how much they \"spent\" on supplies to start, created designs, researched \"competitors\" (businesses on the market who already offer the same service), and lastly create over 200 bracelets. This journey took us a few months but the kids were all so proud of themselves. \r\n\r\nWe soft launched our business at a craft fair night right before Christmas where we made over $100. This get the kids really excited and we are planning to sell to their peers in the near future. This isn't just a silly middle school project, but an experience they will carry with them. We opened each package together and as a learning family put all the items together piece by piece.\r\n\r\nThe kids just completed a Human Body Project and each student used a piece of the materials you graciously donated to give a visual representation of the topic presented.\r\n\r\n My heart is forever grateful.
