This has made a huge impact on our classroom community. \r\n\r\nBeing able to provide snacks for my students has made a huge difference in their participation and emotional regulation during class time. No longer do my students leave feeling hungry! I was also able to obtain stacking drawers and place the snacks in a discreet part of the classroom where students can get them when needed without asking. Besides helping them fulfill their own needs, this has allowed for students to learn social-emotional skills such as accountability and sharing; they noticed that if they took more snacks than they really needed, other students were hungry. We were able to discuss the importance of being fair with shared resources and the idea of wants vs needs. \r\n\r\nThe puzzle and games have also been a hit in the room! The first day I brought out the puzzle, students who had never talked to me outside of answering academic questions lit up and were suddenly sitting and chatting with me around the puzzle. It really brought our classroom together and had students who didn't normally interact willingly working together, which made it easier for their groupwork assignments. Students ask to work on the puzzle after every test and quiz, and same with the games; it gives them something to look forward to, and a way to destress after assessments. \r\n\r\nOur classroom is truly better off thanks to these additions!","fullyFundedDate":1729981325157,"projectUrl":"project/community-corner-for-emotional-physica/8900171/","projectTitle":"Community Corner for Emotional & Physical Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DiSessa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9814410"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81233","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1100,"numTeachers":84,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":null,"schoolId":81233,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Deptford High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Deptford High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/deptford-township-school-district/deptford-twp-high-school/81233"}
