Because of your generosity, my students now have access to a collection of calming and supportive tools that are already making a meaningful difference in their daily learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThese resources have quickly become part of our daily routine. During independent and small group work, students choose flexible seating like the bean bag chair or pillow to get comfortable and stay engaged. The weighted snake has been a favorite for students who need extra support staying calm and focused during lessons—it often rests across their lap as they work. The TheraGym squeezer is used in obstacle courses to help the students release energy and return to learning more quickly. Even the light covers have made a noticeable difference by softening the room and creating a peaceful atmosphere that helps reduce distractions.\r\n\r\nSince introducing these items, I've already noticed improvements in student engagement, self-regulation, and overall comfort. They all get so excited to use our new tools! They are becoming more aware of what helps them focus and regulate, and they are beginning to take ownership of choosing the tools they need to succeed. Our next steps include building more structured \"calm-down\" routines and incorporating these tools into activities so all students can benefit.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students not just materials, but the opportunity to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn each day. Your support is truly making a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1774456823359,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-sensory-needs-for-better-lear/10168070/","projectTitle":"Supporting Sensory Needs for Better Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jamie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10053643_orig.jpg?crop=1513,1513,x2341,y1071&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774374763791","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10053643"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63678","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":384,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.7,"schoolId":63678,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Nicholas Oresko School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Nicholas Oresko School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/bayonne-school-district/public-school-14/63678"}
