We try to show that sometimes giving can be more rewarding than receiving. The most impactful experience is handing out Valentine's ornaments to the elderly and play games with them. The kids always start off nervous but once we get playing games together and laughing then they realize they are kids at heart and they all have a blast. There are some residents that have memory issues and seeing the kids acknowledge, adjust how they talk to them and help them proceed is so rewarding to see them practice kindness and compation. We get together once a week to make gifts for people to help them feel loved and seen. We start the school year in November and we start making Christmas gifts for their family members. We discuss how it feels to receive a gift but also how special it feels to GIVE a gift and see how it effected to receiver. We continue the year with making Valentine's gifts for the elderly and we deliver them on Valentines day because the kids feel they needed the most love. We make appreciation gifts for staff members in the school to show we see them and that they make a difference in the students lives every day. So, all of this would not happen without your kindness and generosity. They want to make a difference in this world and thanks to you, we were able to put out the recycle bins and start making their ideas a reality. Also, enjoyed the bins and huge box they came in. 😀 Pictures tell all. We plan on gathering the recycled products, weighing them, and adding up a total. At the end of every year we send home to every kid a thank you letter and an impact notice showing how much we have recycled thanks to their donations. I was dealing with a personal health issue and I am luckily healthier and ready to continue making a difference with my group. With the materials we were able to obtain through your very generous donations, we made butterflies and hid them around the school. The winter months after the holiday season can get long and not so cheery. We put on several \"I-spy\" games for the kids to find items as they walk the halls. This helps pick up the kids and adults spirits. \r\nAnother project we did was making hearts for the elderly. We were able to take a field trip to a local nursing home and hand them out to the residents. The students felt they were lonely and wanted to make sure they felt loved. The best part was playing bingo with them. \r\nAll in all, these kids wouldn't be able to make the difference they do without the materials we gather from your gracious donations.
