More students than just my special education students have wanted to use them, and our playground has never looked better! Everyone is so excited to be a part of helping to keep our school free of trash. \r\nMy special education students have been utilizing all of the fidgets and sensory boxes. I made each of them a box of fidgets along with some break cards. We have spent time practicing how to appropriately use the break box and the supplies inside. They were all so excited to have a special box with their own fidgets! \r\nIn our social skills class, we have been reading through the books about emotions. We most recently read the Todd Parr books and created art in the style of his illustrations. I have included some of these in the pictures for you to see how wonderful they turned out! \r\nAgain, I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for your support in helping to shape the next generation of students. There were gasps, huge smiles, and so many eager hands ready to play. After learning how to properly set up and care for the instruments, each student was able to sit at their own keyboard and explore the keys for the very first time. For many of them, this was their first experience ever playing a piano. That moment—when the room filled with the sound of every child confidently playing together—was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the keyboards during whole-group lessons and small music centers to practice note recognition, rhythm patterns, and simple melodies. Our older students are learning to play short songs using both hands, while our younger students are exploring high and low sounds, steady beat, and basic patterns. One of our favorite moments so far has been when students successfully played their first short song independently and proudly performed it for their classmates.\r\n\r\nNext, we will begin composing simple original melodies and combining keyboard playing with singing and classroom percussion. Students will work in small groups to create short musical pieces that showcase rhythm and melody, building both creativity and collaboration skills. Thanks to your generosity, my students now have consistent, hands-on access to instruments that will continue inspiring confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of music.","fullyFundedDate":1771368035451,"projectUrl":"project/small-keyboards-big-musical-dreams/10049534/","projectTitle":"Small Keyboards, Big Musical Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Avery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10415293"},{"teacherId":9552238,"projectId":9999557,"letterContent":"Our students were over-joyed to receive your gifts to add to their classroom.
