For many of our students, opportunities to attend formal events like prom are limited, so being able to provide a welcoming and thoughtfully decorated celebration made a meaningful difference. One of the most meaningful moments has been seeing students who previously felt uncomfortable changing or participating become more willing to join in. Having a uniform jersey gives them the confidence to get involved, work with their classmates, and fully participate without worrying about what they are wearing.\r\nWhen the students first saw the jerseys, they were excited to have something that was specifically theirs for PE and athletics. For some of our students, especially our girls, having appropriate athletic clothing has been a major concern. Seeing their excitement and willingness to participate in activities has been a great reminder of how something as simple as a jersey can help a student feel more comfortable and included.\r\nMoving forward, our students will continue using the jerseys as we work through lessons focused on fitness, teamwork, volleyball, and other activities. We will continue encouraging students to challenge themselves, support their teammates, and build confidence through participation. Our goal is for the lessons they learn in the gym—perseverance, communication, teamwork, and confidence—to carry with them into the classroom and their lives beyond high school. One of the biggest changes has been seeing students participate without worrying about sweating or damaging their school uniforms. The jerseys allow them to move more freely and focus on the activity rather than what they are wearing.\r\nWhen the students first saw the jerseys, they were excited to finally have proper PE attire. Some students immediately wanted to try them on, and several commented on how much more comfortable they felt having something specifically for PE. For students who had previously been hesitant to participate, having the jerseys helped create a greater sense of comfort and belonging.\r\nAs we continue through our PE lessons, our students are working on building fitness, teamwork, and confidence through a variety of activities and sports. Our next steps are to continue using the jerseys throughout the school year while encouraging students to challenge themselves, try new activities, and develop healthy habits they can carry with them beyond high school. We have incorporated them into our physical education classes as well as our volleyball and soccer programs. In PE, students can participate more comfortably and confidently without worrying about wearing inappropriate clothing or damaging their everyday clothes. Our volleyball and soccer athletes have also been able to use the shorts during practices and games, giving them proper athletic gear and helping them feel like a team. It has been especially rewarding to see students who previously hesitated to participate because they did not have appropriate athletic clothing become more willing and excited to get involved.\r\n\r\nOur students were extremely excited when they first saw the shorts. For many of them, having proper athletic clothing is something they cannot easily afford on their own. Students were excited to have gear they could use for both PE and athletics and proud to wear quality athletic shorts alongside their teammates and classmates. The donation also showed our students that people in their community believe in them and want them to have the resources they need to participate and succeed.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the shorts throughout the school year as we build our PE and athletic programs. Students will participate in a variety of sports, fitness activities, practices, and competitions while developing teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and healthy habits.
