They are actively involved in preparing and organizing the coffee fundraiser, practicing real-life skills such as communication, money handling, and teamwork. One special moment was seeing students confidently take orders from staff and interact with others around the school—it was a proud and exciting experience for them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were very excited and curious. They immediately wanted to explore everything and were eager to start participating. The hands-on nature of the project really motivated them and helped them feel more independent and involved.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our donors got a glimpse into how our classroom brings learning to life. As next steps, students will continue building their skills by taking on more responsibilities in the coffee project, such as tracking orders, improving customer service, and expanding their independence in daily tasks. While our recent support included a teacher laptop rather than student devices, the impact of this technology on learning has been tremendous.\r\n\r\nThe new teacher laptop has transformed how lessons are planned and delivered. It allows me to create engaging presentations, access up-to-date educational resources, differentiate instruction for students at different learning levels, and provide quicker, more meaningful feedback on assignments. I can incorporate interactive activities, educational videos, and digital practice tools that make lessons more dynamic and accessible. It also helps me track student progress more efficiently, ensuring no child falls behind.\r\n\r\nEqually exciting for our students are the new books and pens. There is something incredibly powerful about placing a brand-new book into a child's hands. The fresh pages, vibrant covers, and stories waiting to be discovered spark immediate excitement. Students are reading more in \r\n\r\nThe new pens have also made a noticeable difference — students take greater pride in their writing when they have quality tools. It may seem small, but having reliable pens encourages neater handwriting, longer written responses, and more confidence in completing assignments.\r\n\r\nWhat has been especially heartwarming is seeing some of our more hesitant learners embrace these new resources. I wanted to share how the iPad and classroom supplies you funded are already making a meaningful impact on my students' learning.\r\n\r\nMany of my donors use technology at home, but classroom technology serves a slightly different purpose. The iPad allows me to model writing, close reading, and annotation in real time so students can actually see how strong readers and writers think through a task. This makes expectations clearer and helps students apply strategies more confidently in their own work. It has become a powerful teaching tool that supports deeper understanding and stronger writing skills.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is how interactive the iPad is. They enjoy watching ideas develop live, annotating texts together, and seeing examples instantly. This immediacy makes learning feel more engaging and relevant, and students take greater pride in their work when they can clearly see their progress.\r\n\r\nSome students have connected especially strongly with this technology. Reluctant writers and students who benefit from visual modeling feel more confident when they can watch the writing process step by step. Students who are strong verbal thinkers also appreciate having a clear structure to help them turn ideas into organized writing. Overall, more students are participating, asking questions, and taking academic risks.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom where students feel supported, capable, and motivated to learn. We used them yesterday for an activity that was powerful in student learning. The students split into groups of 2 or 3 and used the measuring tapes to measure one group member. Then we went outside to measure the shadow of the same student. It was a bit chilly, but it was sunny, and the shadows were long (almost exactly twice as long as the person!). We then had 3 groups work together to measure the shadow of the flagpole. When we got back to the classroom, we set up a proportion to figure out how tall the flagpole is. I plan to refer back to this activity throughout the next month as we learn more about similar figures and their proportions.\r\n\r\nThis activity gave my students a new way to think about proportions. Proportions aren't just numbers on a page, but they can represent real things--real measurements that unlock the ability to solve real problems, like measuring the flagpole, when it would otherwise seem impossible.\r\n\r\nWe will be using our Geometry templates in an upcoming art project, and I'm super excited to have such a great resource so the students can really excel.\r\n\r\nI am grateful for the support from donors like yourselves that help to make my classroom one of exploration, discovery and real learning.","fullyFundedDate":1758049515947,"projectUrl":"project/geometry-tools-for-memorable-hands-on-le/9402215/","projectTitle":"Geometry Tools for Memorable Hands-On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marshall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9556329_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755695796455","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9556329"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73868","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1737,"numTeachers":73,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"23.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":73868,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Damonte Ranch High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Damonte Ranch High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/damonte-ranch-middle-high-school/73868"}
