During our novel study of White Fang, my students utilized notebooks and pens to journal their reading. At the end of our novel, students were able to successfully create story cubes using materials such as construction paper and Flair Pens. Students were also able to demonstrate understanding of reading vocabulary using individual whiteboards and dry erase markers. They had fun making answering vocabulary questions in competition form. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials were presented to my students, they were so excited to have new \"things\" to use in class. From pens and notebooks to dry erase markers and a new pencil sharpens (given the title of the best one in the school!), the students were grateful and excited to use the new materials. The students did not have to worry about not having basics needed for the classroom. All of my students expressed their gratitude toward your generosity. \r\n\r\nYour donations will continued to be used for the remainder of the year and years to come. Future projects include creating a gameboard in response to events in The Road, designing a yearbook in response to A Separate Peace, and making a storyboard for our short story unit. The provided materials will continue to help facilitate future projects in my classroom. \r\n\r\nWe thank you again for your generous donations to our classroom. My high school English students are using the new resources during everyday class and for projects, including when they work individually, collaborate in small groups, and work with the whole class. \r\n\r\nOne memorable moment happened during a recent small group activity: students used the materials to annotate passages together and build visual idea maps that connected themes, character motivations, and real-world issues. The conversations were deeper and more thoughtful than I've seen before, because students had the resources they needed to actively engage with the text.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Students were eager to open the boxes, explore the supplies, and start using them right away. Several students commented that they felt supported by receiving the generous gift of supplies. Their enthusiasm set a positive tone and helped reinforce that their learning environment is supported by people who believe in their success.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to use these resources for a larger project in which students will create posters and research propaganda in relation to the novel 1984. These materials make it possible for students to organize their ideas, collaborate effectively, and present their thinking with confidence. Your support is helping my students be successful in the classroom and prepare for the real world.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom and for giving my students the opportunity to learn, create, and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1769191961272,"projectUrl":"project/creating-successful-students-in-the-clas/10016558/","projectTitle":"Creating Successful Students In the Classroom and the Real World","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5368816"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_72358","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":275,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":50,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":72358,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Academy for Career Education on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Academy for Career Education","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/academy-for-career-education/72358"}
