I am thrilled to report on the incredible impact these materials have made in our 5th-grade health curriculum.\r\nThis term, our students completed a 6-week unit titled \"All About The Body \" Because our schedule allocated only 45 minutes of health instruction per week, every minute needed to be as engaging and efficient as possible. With a classroom of active, kinesthetic learners, having these physical models transformed our lessons from traditional reading into interactive, memorable discovery.\r\nThe grant-funded resources directly enhanced student learning throughout the entire unit:\r\n Full-Body Skeleton Model: In Week 1, this model immediately brought our skeletal system study to life. Instead of looking at flat 2D textbook pictures, students physically examined bone structures, felt how joints moved, and gained a tangible understanding of how the skull and rib cage protect vital organs during our bone-identification relay games.\r\n 3D Anatomical Organ Models: As we progressed through the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, and immune systems (Weeks 2–6), these models made abstract biological processes concrete. Detachable organs allowed students to trace blood flow, track the path of food through the digestive tract, and see how systems physically fit and work together.\r\n Human Anatomy Puzzle: This multi-layer puzzle served as a favorite interactive station tool. Students collaborated to layer skin, muscle, organs, and bones to assemble a complete human body. It was a highlight during our capstone \"Amazing Body Fair\" in Week 6, where students proudly demonstrated their knowledge to their peers.\r\nDespite our tight 45 minute weekly window, these physical tools significantly accelerated comprehension, boosted retention, and provided crucial support for our energetic learners, English language learners (ELL), and students receiving special education services. Our pre- and post-unit assessments showed dramatic growth in student understanding, and their enthusiasm for science reached an all-time high.\r\nThank you again for your generosity and commitment to enriching our students' educational experiences. Your support made science tangible, exciting, and truly unforgettable for our 5th graders.\r\nSincerely,","fullyFundedDate":1778227142946,"projectUrl":"project/all-about-the-body/10077435/","projectTitle":"All About The Body!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nielsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10077776_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770102312962","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10077776"},{"teacherId":9356378,"projectId":9990371,"letterContent":"Thank so much for the much needed classroom supplies.
