We have enjoyed adding music to poetry. We previously read Whatever the Weather. We read the poems again and added music beats to the poetry. Students took turns leading the beats of their choice. We also read Drum Dream Girl. In the story, girls are not allowed to play drums. The main character dreams of playing drums and eventually makes a difference in leading the way for other girls. The girls in class started our Jam Session leading the group with drums! \r\n\r\nStudents have been enjoying the music so much they play it during recess too! I enjoy seeing them work together and creating a parade of music. I am so proud of my class! \r\n\r\nI will be putting their writing books together soon with the book maker provided. These activities have definitely helped with creating a fun way to learn.
