Now with the screen and projector the whole class can see everything from all areas of the room. Seating charts are eaiser to make. Students are often intimidated by Shakespearean language, but with the help of the modern-day translation that appears alongside the original text in this edition, students are understanding and even enjoying this classic. More advanced students are able to engage with the rich language of the original, while less advanced students practice reading comprehension with language that is less complex.\r\n\r\nWe have used this edition in a variety of ways in our progress through the play. Students have been able to follow along with original text as we listen to it, and then refer to both the original text and the translation, including helpful notes, in discussion and analysis. Students have also had time in class to read the book during quiet independent reading sessions. Being able to choose which level they read allows them some ownership of their learning. Though it is not required, multiple students have requested to take copies home. I have gotten this request from high-achieving honors students, students with accommodations, and students who sometimes struggle to pay attention during class. This is a marker of success because it shows the students are engaged and willing to take on some responsibility for learning a classic work of literature. Finally, students have been able to return to the book to look for quotations as they analyze a key character (Romeo, Juliet, the Nurse, Tybalt, Mercutio, Benvolio, Friar Lawrence, etc.).","fullyFundedDate":1768178938148,"projectUrl":"project/books-to-bring-an-english-classic-within/10004786/","projectTitle":"Books to Bring an English Classic Within Reach","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hansen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10401204"},{"teacherId":9558318,"projectId":10016561,"letterContent":"This project has helped create fun real world activities in my classroom that allowed teenagers to revisit measuring and complete multiple activities which have real world applications. We have also been able to use this tech for testing, and fun online games that connect to the content they are learning in the class. I remember when I got the news it was accepted - it was a late Friday night at home, and I didn't understand why my principal was messaging me so late. Well, turns out he was congratulating me on the project being funded! I was so excited. Over the weeks following the news the supplies I asked for in the project started arriving at the school. It felt like a teacher's Christmas, even if the supplies were simple.\r\n\r\nWhen I put together my list for this project, I sat at my desk in my classroom and looked around wondering what my students would use the most. The first, most obvious, supply was pencils. Many of my students don't have their own pencils or somehow manage to lose their pencils throughout the day. Having a pencil station fully stocked in my classroom allows students to help themselves without disrupting the learning of others. Another supply that felt necessary was Spanish-English dictionaries. I already had a few, but it wasn't enough for each student to access during class. Now that my room has a full shelf of the dictionaries, most of my students can use one at any time during their classwork. \r\n\r\nIn the pictures I shared showing how the supplies are used in class I tried to use one of the most basic teacher strategies - thumbs up and thumbs down. Thumbs down shows the before pictures in which my classroom did not have the supplies, and thumbs up shows the supplies fully stocked in their designated locations. While the pencils, paper, folders, and dictionaries may seem like small items, they've made a big impact on my students. The highest priced item in my project was a Chromebook. I use a computer daily to present materials to students, post grades, and lesson plan. The value of a brand new computer to streamline my work throughout the day has been priceless.\r\n\r\nOverall, the benefits the Donors Choose project has brought to my classroom is immeasurable. Thank you for choosing my classroom to fund.","fullyFundedDate":1768009517331,"projectUrl":"project/organized-equipped-and-ready-to-learn/9988130/","projectTitle":"Organized, Equipped, and Ready to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DeSart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398271"},{"teacherId":9558581,"projectId":10010584,"letterContent":"The students started to make gnomes for ceramics and the clay was really appreciated.\r\nStudents loved the new glazes on the gnomes and the colors are very bright and make the projects turn out amazing.
