Through the generosity of our donors, we received kinetic sand, pencil grips, a marble run, Play-Doh, a bean bag, building bricks, and a large supply of snacks.\r\nThese materials have given our students more opportunities for hands-on learning. The kinetic sand and Play-Doh help strengthen fine motor skills and encourage creativity, while the pencil grips support students as they learn how to properly hold a pencil and begin writing. The marble run encourages problem-solving, teamwork, and exploration as students build and experiment together. Our new bean bag has also created a comfortable place where students can relax, look at books, or take a quiet break when needed.\r\nThe snacks have been especially helpful in our classroom. Pre-K students have busy days filled with learning and play, and having snacks available helps make sure our students have something to eat when they are hungry and can return their attention to learning.\r\nWe are incredibly thankful to our Donors Choose supporters. These donations may seem like simple classroom supplies, but to our students they mean new experiences, exciting opportunities to learn, and a classroom that feels welcoming and supportive. The bean bag chairs have created a comfortable space where students can read, work independently, or take a quiet break when they need one. We have also been using the rolling cart to keep classroom materials organized and easily accessible. The laminating pouches and markers are helping us create and preserve student work, learning activities, and classroom resources that we can use throughout the year.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. They were especially thrilled to see the bean bag chairs and couldn't wait to use the new cozy learning space. It has been wonderful to see students naturally gravitate toward the area with books or independent activities and make it part of their daily classroom routine. The snacks have also been a welcome addition and provide students with an extra sense of care and encouragement throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building our classroom routines and use these resources to support upcoming lessons and student projects. Students will have opportunities to create, write, read, and share their work in a comfortable and organized environment. My students are using the MAGNA-TILES animal sets during hands-on learning activities focused on animals, habitats, and building. One memorable moment was watching students work together to create different animal homes and habitats. They were excited to share their ideas, solve problems together, and explain why they chose certain designs. The snack items are also helping us create a welcoming classroom environment and celebrate students' hard work and positive moments throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were immediately excited and curious. The animal sets especially caught their attention, and students couldn't wait to start building. Their excitement quickly turned into collaboration as they began sharing pieces, comparing their creations, and helping one another.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue exploring animals and their habitats through hands-on building and classroom discussions. Students will have opportunities to design habitats for different animals, explain how their structures meet an animal's needs, and revise their designs as they learn more. These resources give my students meaningful opportunities to learn through creativity, cooperation, and hands-on exploration.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful to our donors for making these experiences possible. My class is just finishing up with their second novel study and we did not have a third set to move into. Many of these students are finishing a chapter book for their very first time in grade 6! This donation makes their desire to continue reading a success!! We will start our study next week and all 30 students are beyond excited!! Our novel study includes vocabulary instruction, we work on comprehension during and after strategies. Throughout the study we thread in many grade 6 ccsd to help prepare students for the next grade.
