The new technology allows students to draft, record, and edit their own podcasts, helping them see how their words can reach an authentic audience beyond the classroom. Instead of writing just for a grade, they're now writing to communicate ideas and connect with others. The process has built confidence in their communication skills and deepened their understanding of tone, pacing, and audience—skills that are essential for strong writing and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the creative control they have over their projects. With microphones, editing software, and sound effects at their fingertips, they're able to bring their stories to life in ways that feel professional and personal. Many students have discovered new talents—some enjoy scripting and voice acting, while others love sound design and audio production. The moment they first hear their polished episode is always met with pride and amazement; they can hardly believe they created something so real and engaging. This excitement has made learning feel fresh and meaningful, sparking enthusiasm even in students who were once reluctant writers.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially connected with the podcasting project in ways that have surprised and inspired us. One student who was very shy at the start of the year has found her voice behind the microphone—literally and figuratively—gaining confidence as she narrates her stories with poise and expression. Another student with a strong interest in technology has become our go-to \"audio engineer,\" helping classmates troubleshoot sound issues and edit their tracks. Watching these students take ownership of their learning and collaborate with one another has been incredibly rewarding. Your support has made this transformation possible, turning our classroom into a space where creativity, communication, and confidence come together through technology.","fullyFundedDate":1757423977428,"projectUrl":"project/voices-that-matter-empowering-6th-grade/9487727/","projectTitle":"Voices That Matter: Empowering 6th Graders Through Podcasting","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Newsom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9347468_orig.jpg?crop=1126,1126,x0,y56&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753137585680","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9347468"},{"teacherId":9424198,"projectId":9200911,"letterContent":"On behalf of the students at Mack Lyon Middle School, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous donation of dodgeballs and other PE equipment. These new resources have already made a tremendous impact on our physical education program. For example, in our recent unit on team sports, we were able to host a tournament where students practiced teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship—all using the new dodgeballs and equipment. The students were thrilled to have such high-quality materials, and it made the whole experience even more engaging and fun.\r\n\r\nWhen the new equipment arrived, my students couldn't contain their excitement. They were jumping up and down, eager to try out the dodgeballs and test out the other gear. It was clear that the donation sparked a renewed energy in our class, and they quickly bonded over the opportunity to practice and play with the new tools. It was a joy to watch students who might not have participated in team sports before, now feeling confident and included, all because of the new equipment.\r\n\r\nLooking forward, we will continue to build on the skills we've developed during our team sports unit, focusing on cooperation and leadership in group settings. We are planning to introduce more games that emphasize both physical fitness and collaboration, and the new equipment will play a key role in helping us achieve these goals. The enthusiasm and camaraderie that have already emerged from this donation are just the beginning, and we're excited to see how it will continue to shape our PE program in the future.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for supporting our students and making such a meaningful difference in their physical education experience. When we received the package, it felt like Christmas as we unboxed the new books. Immediately, students wanted to check out the new books from me to take home to read. Almost every student has read a book that has peaked their interest and given them a desire to read more novels. For this I am so grateful.
