It made for an epic unit. \r\n\r\nThey could imagine themselves launching Artemis to the moon from Johnson Space Launch Control. Like that rocket, we had to cover meteorology but we had to launch in 15 mph SW winds so luckily the math that I taught for this project helped them angle the launch pad so their rocket would drift back and land close to us. Some powerful rockets drifted off course but we learned from those mistakes to make course corrections. \r\n\r\nLastly we used 'homemade' altimeters as shown in the picture to get the angle of their rocket at its zenith and with the help of their math teacher, students calculated the height in meters and feet of their rockets.\r\n\r\nNot all rockets were retrieved due to their distance from our parking lot, but after school students were allowed to get them with their parent. \r\n\r\nAll in all, it was a great experience building the rockets, painting them and finally launching them.
