I'm in my second year of teaching students in special education K-6 at a small charger school. I am new to teaching children with dyslexia. More than half of my students have this condition and the materials will really help support their learning. I'm excited to help them with spelling in particular, a difficulty children with dyslexia have more than the average child. It will help improve both their reading and writing in the general education classroom.\r\n\r\nSome of my 3rd students got to explore the materials as a brain break during Fall Testing Week and they can't wait to use them when they come work with me next week! \r\n\r\nThank you again. I'm so blessed to have such a lovely donor help me support my students in their learning challenges.","fullyFundedDate":1746716334282,"projectUrl":"project/climbing-mt-dyslexia-and-other-challeng/9321801/","projectTitle":"Climbing Mt. Because of you, our classroom library now includes a beautiful variety of stories that represent many cultures, backgrounds, and voices. Your donation has given my students more than just books—it has given them the gift of connection, understanding, and a stronger sense of identity.\r\n\r\nThe moment the books arrived, the excitement in the classroom was undeniable. Students eagerly explored the new titles, pointing out characters who looked like them or shared similar experiences. For some, it was the first time they saw themselves reflected in a book. For others, it opened a window into a culture they hadn't known much about. These stories are helping us learn not just to read, but to understand one another more deeply.\r\n\r\nRepresentation in literature matters, and your support has made sure my students feel seen, valued, and included. Reading stories that celebrate diverse cultures, languages, family structures, and traditions has sparked meaningful conversations in our classroom. Students are asking questions, sharing their own stories, and showing more curiosity and empathy toward others. These books are helping to build a community rooted in respect and appreciation for our differences.\r\n\r\nYour donation has also enriched our academic growth. These engaging books are encouraging a love for reading in all of my students, even those who have struggled with literacy in the past. When students connect with what they read, they become more motivated and confident in their abilities. That's exactly what I'm seeing each day during our independent reading and storytime sessions.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic and cultural benefits, these books have brought so much joy. Students gravitate toward the reading corner more often, and there's always a buzz of excitement when someone discovers a new favorite story. It's amazing to watch them proudly share what they've read with friends, or recommend a book they think someone else will love. Our classroom feels more vibrant and inclusive because of what you helped bring into it.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of diverse representation and for investing in our students' growth. Your support has made a lasting impact—not only this year, but for many years to come, as these books will continue to be loved and shared by future classes.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your kindness, your generosity, and the positive change you've helped create in our classroom.
