The female students have been informed of this project which allows them to have feminine hygiene supplies in every girl's bathroom in the school. The students in grades 3 - 5 are still a little unsure by this change to their bodies and are very grateful to have the supplies available, instead of asking others for assistance. The students in grades 6 - 12 were immediately excited about the opportunity to have these supplies at the place of need and shared this excitement with a teacher. \r\n The teachers and Principals know that additional supplies of deodorant wipes and body wash are available for student showers and this information has been shared with the students. Several students have already asked for these personal hygiene supplies for use at school and to take home. It has been a pleasure to be able to supply these items and assist the student to feel more comfortable in their environment. \r\n The teachers suggested the names of students who could be involved in writing the thank you lettters to donors and several 5th grade students worked with each other and the nurse to write thoughtful responses. This was a fun-filled activity when the students could also ask questions about the menstrual cycle and the supplies that are needed during this time, and they learned more about personal hygiene in general. The discussion will be continued during a Puberty presentation done in the classroom by the nurse. The students will have the opportunity to anonymously leave questions about puberty in a question box and then these topics will be discussed during the Puberty class, or at any time the student wants more information. They were surprised to know that their questions could be anonymous and quickly had several thoughts in mind for the \"Question Box\". \r\n\r\n The Middle-School (MS) and High School (HS) students gave feedback about the best placement of the shelves in the bathrooms and shared information about specific feminine hygiene products that could be stocked at the school. They noticed the new shelves in the bathrooms first and as the supplies were stocked on the shelves, the chatter about the project intensified! And several of these student also participated with the thank you letters to the donors and to DonorsChoose. The MS and HS students also took part in the pictures for this project and were happy to include the Food Services Director who had originally suggested this project to the nurse. The Food Services Director has family members who attend the school and is a clear favorite for many of the students as she caters to their food desires and now a great suggestion to help them with feminine hygiene supplies. \r\n The community members was also involved after a teacher connected with a community based, non-profit outreach group who have donated feminine hygiene supplies to the school and are available for future donations when needed. An additional bonus has been the inclusion of the housekeeping staff who offered to check and restock the supplies daily when they clean the bathrooms. It has clearly become a project that is supported by the community and multiple school members.","fullyFundedDate":1771084009500,"projectUrl":"project/ready-set-go-for-learning/10043931/","projectTitle":"Ready, Set, Go for Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nurse Kathie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10413384"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78897","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":298,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"24.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":78897,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Weeping Water School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Weeping Water School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nebraska/weeping-water-school-district-22/weeping-water-school/78897"}
